woodpusher
I'm a bit confused:According to Foxconn's CPU support list the G41MX-K 2.0 doesn't support the E5700. But this system makes use of this combination. So I wonder what's right?
Sp0iLedBrAt
Could it be that they just haven't tested that processor to be able to recommend it? Otherwise, if it fits the socket, why not be able to use it?Cheers
allen2
Intel say it is compatible with the chipset so it should work but might not be detected properly and some feature might be disabled ( if the bios doesn't support it ).
puntoMX
woodpusher, why would you like to know this? Do you have one of those components and like to add the other?
woodpusher
Do you have one of those components and like to add the other?I bought both of them and now I'm unsure if I should return or keep them because I'll only get a full refund if I leave the components untouched. The E5700 seems to be problematic: The GA-P41-ES3G doesn't support it either. allen2
Then you should ask foxconn support but it seems they just forgot it in the list as they say: Supports Intel® 45nm Multi-Core processors Edited March 19, 2011 by allen2

There are better options when you want to go cheap and we can help you out with that, so, on Monday you can exchange the parts you bought (Or something must have changed and they open now also on Sundays in your country).CPU: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/263404/amd-athlon-ii-x2-255.htmlMOBO: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/232185/asrock-a790gxh-128m.html or something like this (mATX/uATX) http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/246210/asus-m4a785g-htpc.htmlThose are just examples, note that the mobo is full-atx and works with DDR2. I presume you have DDR2 RAM laying around that you are going to use? If this is a build up from scratch it's better to say so course DDR3 is now the way to go. Please forget Socket 775, it's just not worth it any more.ps. If you really want that S775 CPU than look at http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/252891/asus-p5g41c-m.html with BIOS 0506, also doesn't show that CPU in it's list BUT Foxconn is just lousy with updates for its BIOS. Now, I'm almost sure it will work any way, but it could be just showing "unknown CPU" and you have to set the multi in the BIOS.
