Firefox freezes - 99% CPU Usage on some sites

About once a week I run into a site that locks up my Firefox (currently 3.6.9). The CPU maxes out and I'm unable to interact with FF anymore. It's really gotten under my skin now and I want to see if it's only me. Can you guys/gals turn off cookies and check this URL: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-onthemedia-20100908,0,435910.column

In this instance it appears that widgets-ak.visualdna.com is continually trying to set a cookie and causing the problem. I've tried it with IE6 and Chrome and don't get anything near the CPU usage.

Thanks in advance

EDIT: I just noticed that it may take 30 seconds to a minute for it to happen. Move your scrollbar up and down until you see this...clipboard01w.png

That's when it totally locks.

It seems locked, but it isn't. The mouse wheel gets deactivated. PageUp and PageDown don't work (at least after you get to the bottom). Like something is constantly 'pushing' the page downwards.

The close tab button took a long time and it was frozen then - the only time I saw increased CPU usage.

I also have enormous HOSTS file so it might be blocking something. I turned off cookies.

It works fine for me, but I have NoScript installed. I went there and it loaded up fairly quickly, but also noticed that all scripts are blocked. So if one of the 8 scripts I have blocked are causing the problem, I wouldn't know. I do have the 2 facebook scripts enabled, facebook.com and fbcdn.net.
