Hi everyone. I was wondering if I could add KB961503 to the mix. I don't know what could happen, since it's only required by MU/WU after installing WLM 14.

Has anyone tried this?

bye!

it updates the file MSCTFIME.IME (which is part of XP even w/o WLM14) to 5.1.2600.5768.

On my system (w/o WLM14) I have this file in version 5.1.2600.5512.

So, with or w/o WLM14, I think it's worth to update MSCTFIME.IME to the latest version.

Can you make an installation with KB961503 slipped into the CD? On success I would add it to the update-list/file-checker. :)

Ok, it's done.

After installing, the file was ver. 5768 in system32 and system32\dllcache. MU was completely happy, no 961503.

Then, I installed WLM 14, the file was still ver. 5768 in both locations. went to MU, totally happy, no 961503 wanted.

SO, it seems to work!

thx!

bye!

I'm just udpating the list and the tool.

a question: Is it a high-priority update or an optional update?

It seems to be high priority. The minute after you install WLM14, MU starts asking for it. In the MU site it is listed under "critical".
