Hey guys / girls

I'm following this guide http://www.msfn.org/board/install-XP-USB-t111406.html&view=findpost&p=737643#entry737643

and when i get to the second part of the guide where it says select 'Target USB Drive' it says 'F: has not FAT FAT32 or NTFS format and is NOT valid'

I have tried using an external hard drive, a 2gb USB stick and they both get this error. I've tried quick-formats and non-quick formats and the error still persists.

I'm doing this from my Windows 7 machine.

If anyone can help me, it would be great!

For the moment FORGET about the HD, and try the Stick ONLY.

Read part #3. "3. Making a Bootable USB-Drive with USB_MultiBoot.cmd" of the guide.

Try using either Petousb or the HP Format tool to partition AND format the USB stick.

If those do not work, use RMPREPUSB:

It is also possible that there are problems with Windows 7.

In case, try the GUI app:

I tried the GUI thing and it worked, but during the XP install my hard drive isn't showing up to format just my USB stick?

Well, NO. ;)

IF it worked, you would have XP installed by now.

Post the log:

Can you attach WinSetupFromUSB.log file found in program directory.

Describe your hardware (the PC you are trying to install to).

Describe your hardware (the PC you are trying to install to).

It's a notebook, HP Mini 110, I done some googling and it says i need to streamline my hard drive drivers into the XP install.

I've followed the nLite guide on how to input your own drivers however, how do i go about using the ISO it created as i dont have a detachable cd / dvd drive?

Yep, it's entirely possible, though that should give a BSOD, see FAQ #3:

While you are at it, review all of them FAQ's, there may be something else useful ...

The mini is reported to work:

check the settings in BIOS:

As an alternative to what?

Automatically produce a set of drivers out of thin air?

The HP site is a good place.

Guess WHY I asked you to DESCRIBE it:

*ONLY* 270 (twohundredsandseventy) :w00t: models to choose from.
