How Many Times Can You Use Nlite On An Xp Installation?

I searched for this in the forums but couldn't find anything..

I don't have the original xp Cd since i use the version i applied nlite to and that was four or five years ago. If i want to use nlite again does it matter if it was applied twice to the same install. I'm asking cause i tried it but i had some errors when Xp booted for the first time. A message box popped up about 10 times complaining about "nhelper.exe" couldn't be found.

I attributed that to removing a few components but am not sure. I can post my last session tomorrow when i get back to my house. Im currently away from my home and don't have it available.

I just wanted to see what the general opinion was or what has happened to others.

Thanks

Your answer is in the title. You have to start with a clean, untouched (not previously nLited) source. The error you got is typical of using nLite more than once on the same source, but more errors will follow if you succeed to install.

See this in post #4 http://www.msfn.org/...__1#entry846959

This in posts #8 and 9 http://www.msfn.org/...__1#entry633655

There are plenty more posts if you use search

Depends on what's been done already and on what's in the pipe. So the global answer is always start with an original.

or...

an original with ONLY service pack applied.

chrisoborski, nhelper.exe is a program nLite uses in nLite.inf (compressed into NLITE.IN_) during install to implement many of the changes you requested. The last things it does is delete itself. When nLite is run multiple times, items are added to the end on nLite.inf using nhelper.exe, but it has been deleted, so they all fail. You have a mess as a result. Enjoy, John.

Ok thanks everyone

Thanks Sp0iLedBrAt Im reading those links you posted right now. I'll also try and search some too. Although i tried searching for "nlited installations" twice and couldnt find anything but maybe if i try searching based on my errors recieved ill find some results.

Thanks
