bensam56 Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 List of components can be removed safely Services:Windows Error Reporting Service@Ben, If you force 7Lite to auto protect wer.dll in the next version, users will be able to remove "Windows Error Reporting Service" without having to remember to protect wer.dll. There are a few more in this list (post #1)SYSTEM files to PROTECT and REASONINGwer.dll (have to protect this file in order to remove the error reporting service)msdrm.dll (have to protect this file in order to remove digital rights management)browcli.dll (have to protect this file so net start/stop will work by command prompt)msoert2.dll (protect this file only if you are going to use and install msn messenger)winipsec.dll (have to protect this file in order to remove the ipsec policy agent service)Magnification.dll (protect this file if you are not removing Snipping Tool or it won't work)Not sure about the rest, I have seen a few different ones posted in various vLite threads. Maybe we should try to collect all this info + reasoning in a single location (instead of losing the information 100 posts deep in vLite forum). I know there are more than 5-6 of these, can anyone remember the ones we are missing.Did u got my previous PM?
MrJinje Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Did u got my previous PM?Check your inbox, reply was dated March 17th, but I never got reply back. Did you find a solution or is that still on the list for version 1.05 ?

Did you find a solution or is that still on the list for version 1.05 ?I fixed that in this 1.04 itself. Error is "User profile cannot be loaded". Its a small mistake i made. I didn't got your reply. 1.05 will be final for Beta and adding some more new feature in RC. Things I need to fix is * If components is already removed from the windows using RT 7 lite and again loading that same windows, those removed components is still visible in components list. * I will force some of the important system files not to delete.

IN HOME TAB CHECK THE "SAVE CURRENT SETTINGS" OPTION BEFORE YOU START CUSTOMIZING YOUR WINDOWS. FINALLY IT WILL CREATE A INF FILE IN RT 7 LITE DIRECTORY. YOU CAN RELOAD THE SETTINGS AGAIN BACK..
bensam56 Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 THOSE WHO ARE USING POLISH LANGUAGE MAY GET EXCEPTION ERRORS. IT WILL BE SOLVED IN NEXT BUILD 1.05.

Something with an open/save dialog where they can pick which settings file to restore.

I just tryed a untouched version again and removed some components. I removed windows firewall.. And tryed it in virtualbox.. Elmoonfire Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 *When starting it now asks for WAIK although i have WAIK installed(see spoiler).Anyone else having this or is it only me?.Now i simply close WAIK windows,7 Lite asks to quit and i say no and i can run 7 Lite.Copied waik files to 7 Lite directory but still same:I had to install WAIK for windows 7 and server 2008 R2. Did you install that version?*Unable to choose 7 Lite TEMP location...always greyed outagree*Not enough size reduction?.Removed lots of stuff but size went down only 400-500MB.Also did wim export with max compress.TEST1 - Nothing removedTEST2 - Removed lot of stuff(see spoiler):I have also had issues with this. I too am only getting 300-400MB reduction removing almost everything I can. Removing the same stuff in vLite resulted in almost a 1GB reduction. This is also reflected in the final installation size being greater in size as well. My results were with x86. I am now fully testing x64 version of Windows 7 with RT 7lite.
Elmoonfire Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Here is my list of bugs:Session settings: Don't work between different versions of windows 7 Some settings don't stay checked between sessions after loading previous settings saved. "Fax" under systems does not. Looking for more. Not able to make ISO without doing some configuration. Would also be nice to be able to do more configuration and rebuild after making an iso instead of closing and reopening application. When making iso if you use a file name with a space you get "should not have spaces between words" error and then you can't make isoProgram has errors when opening multiple instances of the program, might want to prevent that more then one instance.Almost all progress bars get to between 20-30% and then completes. If you have "Tablet PC" checked under "System" from a previous session not only will it be greyed out but so will the default features"Tablet PC Components" and you won't be able to check or uncheck either one. I have found that if I uncheck "Tablet PC Components" before selecting Load previous settings that I then do get a checkbox for "Tablet PC".Not sure how the process differs from vLite but removing components takes significantly longer.FEATURE REQUESTSession settings management - delete, rename etc.If you remove components that they are linked with their control panel links. So if you removeComponent descriptions and size like vlite.Start menu configuration - like removing help and support. Also it is my guess that when there is only one image to select from (just Enterprise) the program doesn't do as much compression or removal then if you can select one of many image (select Ultimate or Professional).
gendouhydeist Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Temp works for me, you just need to change the temp directory before selecting the Windows7 directory..BUGwhen adding files to be secured.. it says file not found.
