pacificblue03 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Before i start im new to this forum.Ok here is my situation. My model laptop Compaq Presario CQ60 – 214TX came with Windows vista 32bit. After about 2 to 4 months of having enough of vista I decided ok windows XP you need to be on my machine. I have tried normal install but when I install it loads all drivers then Sais windows is starting.ThenSTOP: 0x00000078 (0XF78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)After reading ALOT of forums I understand that SATA is not readable by XP without drivers. That’s when you can use the f6 button but I don’t have a floppy disc area on laptop. So I looked at these forums and lots of them suggest Nlite to slipstream the SATA driver that I HOPE is my version into the installation. But no success. I have made up to 5 XP slipstreamed CDs and they all FAIL so my last try is Forums. My model of laptop also stupidly has no sata disable option in bios. So if anyone has an idea of what DRIVER I need if I haven’t got the right one please post. Also maybe this is the problem. When I make the Nlite CD an error pops up during finalisation in adding the new drivers. So if anyone can help me please please I want to have xp.I currently am running windows 7 pro 64bit but still want XP.Thank you for reading my problem I hope we sort it out.Below is my HDD driver at the moment: ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI driverpacificblue03.
Ponch Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Before i start im new to this forum. You should be shot in the head First, welcome to the forum2nd, you should post in the right section; the nLite forum. Ok, you couldn't guess, but you couldn't have missed the big red announcement up your screen, did you ?3rd, "I'm new to the forum, be nice" is breaking forum rules about proper description of your problem in thread's title. Double whammy. 4rth, searching the said nLite forum will get you to a solution in a few minutes.Big lines in your case:-integrate text mode drivers for your SATA controler, check post replies by user Fernando1.-if integrating any SP, do the nLite operation under XP, not under Vista.-don't be tempted to remove any component that you might regret later. And don't forget my first point: Welcome.
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Of course, there are also other ways of integrating SATA drivers and service packs (use Search and thou shall be answered), but I have to agree with Ponch since nLite is user-friendly and therefore highly recommendable. Just follow Ponch's advices at the end of his post and you'll be just fine.Welcome aboard,
Tripredacus Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 0x78 isn't caused by having the incorrect Mass Storage Controller driver. That would give you a 0x7b. I noticed that google lists 0x7b when you search for 0x78... Possible causes I can find:1. A driver on the installer is corrupted, or becomes corrupted when copied over, or is indexed but not copied over during setup. Also driver may be for the incorrect OS or support files are missing.2. NonPagedPoolSize is greater than 7/8 of your physical memory. See this link, but is more aimed at existing installs:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/184758To see if it is a problem with the system, try using a normal XP install CD and F6 your driver and see if it works.

Sp0iLedBrAt Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Well, find the exact model of you nVidia graphics card, then go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index5.aspx?lang=en-us and find your drivers. If you are unsure how to do that, please post the exact model of your card and I'll try to help you out.BTW, do you have .NET framework installed?

Sp0iLedBrAt Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 You are saying that not being able to install control panel also breaks the installation of the driver? In that case, install 7-Zip and using right-click on the nVidia driver, extract it in a folder with 7-Zip.After that, open Device Manager, choose Update on your Video Controller (VGA) and point it to the extracted folder. This should install the driver with no problems.Tell us how it went.
