A S C Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Hey guys, I am having a little problem installing a nlite'd version of WinXP(32-bit) Pro on my HP Mini 311(netbook). I have already partitioned the HDD(SATA), so no worries there. I have tried both WinSetupfromUSB and USB_MultiBoot_10 (have used this the most), but I get the same problem...neither can detect any partition besides the usb flash drive.I looked at this guide, and changed partition(1) to partition(2) in the boot.ini file but I still got the same result.I've also looked at this post, where someone has a similar problem to mine but it is a bit confusing. I have installed all the drivers from the HP Mini 311 driver page , and to my knowledge there is no SATA driver there.So...where do I go from here?
ilko_t Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Which part did you find confusing in this thread?http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=138855You do need the proper SATA driver or if possible, as workaround, to switch to IDE mode in BIOS, which could be named in various ways.Quick search in google for "HP Mini 311 sata driver"http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Operating-sys...p/150454#M22221BTS mass storage driver pack is also always an option, a good one
A S C Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 Guess I should have googled for the sata driver... Thanks a lot ilko_t, I just downloaded the sata drivers...hopefully I can get it to work.
A S C Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 It worked! I installed the IDE driver from that link you gave me and used the Textmode version of the driver and it worked perfectly! Thanks once again ilko t
