Direct Burn Hangs

I created an iso image, used Nero to burn it ot DVD, and it did not work.

I then created a completly new installation for Windows XP, added the SATA drivers, and tried the direct burn method to disk.

The progress has been "grey", and the status is listed at 'Closing Track" for 9 hours.

Is this normal? Is there something I did incorrectly?

I'm baffled

Thanks!

I don't know what went wrong with the Direct Burn option, I've only used it once, but you need a bootable CD, and just simple burning with Nero will not do that. Maybe you could try ImgBurn; I've read through several posts that it works, or try reinstalling nLite.

Did you burn the IMAGE (good) or did you just put the file on the DVD (bad) ?

In other words, do you see the install files on your DVD or do you just see a big iso file ?

I burned the image, I didn't simply copy the .iso to a disk.

When I insert the disk into another PC, auto run fires up the installation. Now, that doesn't mean that it'sa bootable DVD, but it tells me that all of the files are there.

I've wasted 3 disks (yeah, I'm cheap!) waiting for the direct burn to complete.

I always use nlite to create the image, then IMGBURN to burn it

+1

right click on the iso file -> Burn with ImgBurn and voila !

Alternatively i use UltraIso to build the iso image. Not freeware but a lot af options.
