Grub4DOS can boot:

  • replacing the MBR
  • replacing the the PBR
  • replacing a CD bootloader
  • replacing NTLDR
  • chailoaded by NTLDR using boot.ini
  • from config.sys
  • from autoexec.bat
  • from the DOS command prompt

and probably it can do other thing besides these.

After it takes control, it will chainload various OSes, depending on what you tell it to boot.

But I really cannot imagine how would it be possible to boot from inside an unbooted (=inactive) OS. :blink:
