Access Denied Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) My P5Q PRO is running at 39-40 on just browsing and reading email. usually 35-40 on idle. My cpu is running at 28-32 idle. I am 100% sure its the Gefore 9800 GTX+, the + means extra heat I presume. I have a fan in the front and another in the back creating airflow but the mobo just runs at 39 mostly. It drops to 30-32 if I take the side off. I can add more fans if needed. I really want to know if this 40C all the time is bad. EDIT: Everest is reporting the temps. Asus Probe confirms. Zenskas Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Its not that bad really. 40C at idle for your motherboard is quite acceptable. If it does not go over twice that under load then it should be fine. Mine is running at 35C right now at idle and is definitely plenty stable. My CPU is at 30C. PC components can run very hot with 90C being the max for some parts.
Zenskas Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Your fine then plenty of people have motherboards that run higher than 50C and go fine so you are safe B)
Access Denied Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 I knew I would get piece of mind from the answers on this board. Thank you very much.
Zenskas Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Your right mate Just while I'm here, what does your graphics card run at when idle and load?
Access Denied Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 Geforce runs at 39-41 on idle. I have seen it in the high 50's so far.
Zenskas Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 All good there too. Graphics cards can again go up to the 80's while still running OK in most cases. Looks like your PC is running nice and cool B)
Access Denied Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 Asus Probe II is reporting my cpu is 113C, but Everest says 26C and the BIOS says 30C.
puntoMX Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 That's a huge diference, even if it was in oF it would still be 45oC.What case are you using now?
Access Denied Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 Same one I had the old P4 inside. I cleaned it after I removed the old hardware, minus the psu. I have fans in there. Its obviously a misread by the Asus Probe II.
Zenskas Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Yes it would be misread. Try using hardware monitor and realtemp then see what they say. If they say around 30ish as well then I reckon it is plenty fine.
Access Denied Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 (edited) I'll leave Real Temp running and see what it says in the morning. (high reached)I have it OC'd to 3.37 but under 100% constant stress for over 20 min I am reading @ 60C and holding. That alone tells me I could easily go higher, but I am extremely satisfied at this speed. Edited May 10, 2009 by Access Denied
Zenskas Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 If it is OC'ed a little bit (3GHz-3.37GHz) on stock cooling (I assume) and getting 60C after 20mins full load then I reckon you are good to go! Your PC seems to be running nice and cool
Access Denied Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 (edited) I left it under load all night and just closed it down. Max reached at over 9 hours was 64C.EDIT: Thanks for the nice comments. The motherboard seems to have dropped to 34-35 instead of 39-40 the last two days. Its actually been hotter here both days. Maybe I just needed to break them in.EDIT 2: 374 FSB to pump out 3.366 Edited May 10, 2009 by Access Denied
