April 1, 200917 yr Hello can anyone recommend some lightweight Antivirus software that is good.except from Nod32.its good if it works on all windows.win9x and Win2K/XP.
April 1, 200917 yr Clamwin is the lightest I've found that works on 9x and xp. I wish it worked on 95 though! It's light on resources, but takes quite a while to scan to completion. Some people think it might not be so great, but it must have gotten better, being that it has been out long enough for improvements to have been made.
April 1, 200917 yr Problem with ClamWin is it lacks realtime background protection. There is a product based on ClamWin called MoonSecure which may have background protection already. Not sure what OSs it support though.(lol! It took almost 4yrs for my first post here) Edited April 1, 200917 yr by lordpake
April 1, 200917 yr Go with avast, it's fast and lightweight. ClamAV has horrible detections, Avira has annoying nags/update popups, and AVG is bloated.
April 3, 200917 yr Kaspersky 2009 isn't too bad. I've tried all the major ones. Everything has taken a toll on my performance except for Kaspersky. Its not really a "light weight" AV, but it performs good and doesn't eat up too much resources.
April 27, 200917 yr I use Avast with only the standard shield active, and it's very light on resources
