Csimbi Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) Hi all,I could not find any other way to add files to disk other than copying it to the directory with the disk image.I hope I just missed something, but in case it's not there, please consider this feature request.I am looking for a way to add files to the disk without having to copy them to that directory. This is a set of directories or files that I have on local disk:e:\DRIVERS\Java Runtimee:\DRIVERS\ATIe:\DRIVERS\directx_nov2008_rediste:\DRIVERS\DOTNETe:\DRIVERS\NVIDIAe:\DRIVERS\Realtek HDA Drivere:\DRIVERS\vc2005redist_x86.exee:\DRIVERS\vc2005redist_x86.txte:\DRIVERS\vc2008redist_x64.exee:\DRIVERS\vc2008redist_x64.txte:\DRIVERS\vc2008redist_x86.exee:\DRIVERS\vc2008redist_x86.txte:\INSTALL\!CDBURN\ImgBurn_2.4.2.0.exee:\INSTALL\!DOS\DOSBOXe:\INSTALL\!FIREWAL\Comodo Firewalle:\INSTALL\!SPYWARE\SPYBOTe:\INSTALL\Adobe Acrobat Readere:\INSTALL\AutoHotKeye:\INSTALL\FIREFOXe:\INSTALL\PaintNETe:\INSTALL\Skypee:\INSTALL\TOTALCMDe:\INSTALL\ULTRAVNCe:\INSTALL\WINRARIt's a pretty slow process to find these files, copy them to another directory (XP image). It would make things a lot easier if nLite would do the work - by supporting referencing files and pulling them in directly from the source location.Ideally, I could specify a source and a target in the INI file, like this:<target>|<source> ; I chose the pipe as a separator because it can't be in file names. , where <target> is always relative to the root of the diskExample of variants:[copytodisk]$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS|e:\CD\DRIVERS\vc*redist.exe$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS|e:\CD\DRIVERS\*.txt$OEM$\$1\INSTALL|e:\CD\INSTALL\!DOS\DOSBOX$OEM$\$1\INSTALL\ImageBurn_setup.exe|e:\CD\INSTALL\!CDBURN\ImgBurn_2.4.2.0.exeI hope you understand what I mean, if not, please ask.If this is already doable with nLite somehow, please let me know.Thank you.PS:Yes, I know that I can always create a batch file that copies the files. But, I don't want them copied - I want skip the copy process entirely and have the files added to the disk image directly from their original location(s).No, I don't want silent installers and stuff - I just want them added to the disk image. Once. Before launching the process or after. Not erasing them when you reload other fresh OS files. Now that's the fastest way.

But then I would have too many duplicates: one per XP disk, which is about 3G/disk at the moment - and I am managing 4 install disks, so that comes to about 12G wasted space. That's a lot. Also, it is a lot easier to copy INI file sections to the other XP installs than to sync directories every time. Edited March 16, 2009 by Csimbi
submix8c Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) Doubt if you'll have any "changes" made on nLite or vLite very soon. See this post by Nuhi -"On Pause - human.dll" Edited March 16, 2009 by submix8c
