XP Boot/Shutting down slow

I just formatted my Vista Laptop and put XP Pro on it. I am noticing that Start up/shut down is taking longer than it should. During this time there is little to no hard drive activity so i'm not sure whats going on. Is there a way to see what Windows is trying to load during this time?

Disabled Hibernation in a reloaded one recently because of that. May try that nifty tool out instead.

There's also a "glitchy" in shutdown that "uphclean" will help with (User Profile Hive Cleanup). Go to MS and read about what it does and why you might need it (may not need it at all).

Alright I used BootVis and it looks like it is mrxsmb.sys that is taking about 15 seconds to do its thing on startup. I googled it and its some type of network thing that is looking for my home network on startup. I couldn't find anything about fixing it. Anyone have any ideas?

Usually it is due to it looking for "something", like a mapped network drive:

But it's also possible that you have a loopback address set to something else from 127.0.0.0:
