caps_buster Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Guys, I do wonder if anyone know how to rename back the CD/DVD rom drive. After install I was changing the drives and somehow I ended up with THIS problem:My DVDrom drive (E) is named as it was my USB stick... When I changed the drive letter to F, for the DVDrom, then it allow rename, BUT after changing it back to the E, there we go again. USB drive and rename not possible. Is there any trick, or I should let this one go?

os2fan2 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Your cdrom might be indeed a usb device. It might be plugged in by way of a USB cable, or, like the thinkpad cdroms, a plugin that is connected to the USB controler. To manage internal cdrom devices, it should be connected as a DASD (direct access storage device), for example, on the IDE controller, sata drive, or on some scsi card.
