Boot from SD Card?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard of a way to boot from an SD card......?

SD stands for Secure Digital, it's a type of flash memory used in cameras, phones and other devices.

OP: I know that CF cards can be booted when install on the IDE bus with an adaptor, but I don't know about SD. I'm looking into it for use on my new laptop, so I'll post any info I find.

I know people are booting directly from SD Flash cards in Asus Eee PCs.

Its going to depend on your motherboard/bios; but generally you just use diskpart to clean the card, format it FAT32, mark it active (MBR), and copy the OS to the drive.
