January 28, 200917 yr Has anyone heard of a way to boot from an SD card......?SD stands for Secure Digital, it's a type of flash memory used in cameras, phones and other devices.OP: I know that CF cards can be booted when install on the IDE bus with an adaptor, but I don't know about SD. I'm looking into it for use on my new laptop, so I'll post any info I find.

January 29, 200917 yr I know people are booting directly from SD Flash cards in Asus Eee PCs.Its going to depend on your motherboard/bios; but generally you just use diskpart to clean the card, format it FAT32, mark it active (MBR), and copy the OS to the drive.
January 29, 200917 yr I tested 2 microSD cards in my MSI GX700 laptop, but was unable to boot from them. I can boot from them when I use a USB adaptor, but I wanted to have them stored safely in the SD slot. Oh well...
