NVIDA 10/100 wont connect to Intel 10/100

ok, so my ethernet cord isnt connecting to my friends computer, AT ALL. says cable is unplugged. Cable work, double checked. cables are snugly plugged in to each computer. Network cards DO WORK. used every day, on each. Now, my setup. My computer is the host computer for the internet. It used wireless USB to connect to my neighbors internet because they gave me the key to do so. Well, my friends computer is connected through a 15 ft. ethernet cable and says its unplugged. We both have service pack 3 and working network cards. Dont know why this is happening. Also have a router which we tried using as a switch but the computers only connect to the router and not each other. I also switched ports to the extra ports as if we were laning, and also tried plugging mine (since its the host for the internet) into the WLAN port on the router. No go. So i have been searching and searching, and nothing works. Network wizard doesnt work either. hes my ipconfig from the cmd prompt:

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Media State...........:Media disconnected

Ethernet adapter wireless network connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

IP Address.................................: 10.0.0.8

Subnet Mask..............................: 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway.........................: 10.0.0.1

Thats all.....PLEASE HELP ME, I HATE NETWORKING NOW! :realmad:

Try to update to latest drivers for your network cards. I had the same problem, and after I updated drivers it started working.

Cheers ;)

Unless you have recent network cards (no 10/100), you don't connect two computers with a standard network cable. You need a "cross" cable.

Also using your neighbour's Internet might be illegal. For them to allow it as well.

I do it all the time when visiting friends who have neighbours with wireless routers :P Saves off my mobile provider invoice a few quid ;)
