slipstream, tweak, and so on, a 64bit version of vista ultimate and create an iso from a 32bit version of vista?

What do you mean? Do you mean can you work with x64 iso while your machine is running x86? Yes I believe you can if that's what you are asking. Although I have no idea how slipstreaming works in this situation.

I thought I had read something like that, but I wasn't sure. I guess I'll have to install x64, then vlite a copy and then reinstall again....

I heard that virtualbox supports 64bit on the vm even though the host is 32bit so you might wanna try that
