Windows Defender, yes or no?

The description is somewhat confusing.

Helps protect against popups? I already have Opera doing that.

Agains slow performance? What's that?

etc.

The realtime protecttion worries me a bit, looks quite like performance killer itself :)

So, shall I remove it or does it serve any purpose for non-beginner user?

I removed it, they also integrated the managing of startup programs into it. But I don't miss it and normally edit the registry to remove startup items. I don't want or need a spyware or resident spyware scanner.

How? I am not saying it might not, but be a bit more specific.

Spyware I never ever had problem with, popups I can take care of myself by using good browser.

What else is it doing a firewall/antivir cannot handle?
