Automatically switch audio for USB headphones

I have a pair of Logitech USB headphones. The thing i hate, is that when i plug them in, i have to change the sound settings manually to have the audio play though the headphones.

Most times i even have to restart the application to get the sound to play though the headphones. And when i unplug them, i have to go though the same thing.

Is there a way to do this automatically? There's gotta be some piece of software out there that could listen to a "Headphones Plugged In" and "Headphones Unplugged" events and take the proper action.

I mean, it works well with plain analog headphones (i know it's different) so why not USB?

(Obviously) nothing from the manufacturer ?

my soundcard drivers automatically do this. I have to disable this, as I always have the headphones plugged in and only occassionally turn on the speakers.

Update your soundcard drivers and then hunt around it's settings.

After a few evenings of messing with it, i didn't find anything. And, i don't really want to install any the bloated software from SoundBlaster just for that one feature.

Thanks for your help though!
