No WMI service and IE7 not working...

Hello, i'm new to the forum but i use HFSLIP for more than 1 year by now.

lately i got a probleme that i could not resolve and that i did not find reported to the forum.

Mainly : the wbemoc.inf file work very strangly resulting of the non installation of the Windows managment infrastructure service.

During the HFSLIP process, that particular file is never reconstructed properly. i mean, if i look in the WORK/WBEMFIX temporary folder while HFSLIP works, the file is only 2 lines long (the lines of the [string] section in french !) and so is the final file in the SOURCESS folder

i first thought that it was a bug with the french files so i built the wbemoc file manualy buy merging mui an fr files. Putted it in the WORK folder and in another try in the REPLACE\I386 folder with no more sucess

So even if the file contain the wright informations i still end up with no WMI service so the problem must also be somewhere else...

if someone can help.... i'm dying... slowly.... help... please...

technical info :

- XP Home SP3 French (official MS XP sp3 CD)

- The log report XP pro because of a modification in SETUPREG.HIV (tested also without that file with same result!)

- tested with HFSLIP 1.77 - 1.78 and 1.79b (currently using this last)

Interesting. Maybe the prob is because you got a genuine MSFT cd. Can you test out the following? Open the script with your favorite text editor and put REM in front of lines 380 through 384 (using beta_B). Rerun the script and report back.

Hi TommyP, i've tried your tips but that didn't solved the problem at all !

What works :

the wbemoc.inf is now correctly copied and installed

What don't works :

it looks like the file is not executed during install. the C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\Repository is empty

if i do a : rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection WBEM 132 %windir%\inf\wbemoc.inf the service install and works correctly

Side effect i've also noticed :

calc.exe is not in any c:\windows folders but i can find it in the dllcache folder...

IE is not fully installed : there is no desktop icon nor start menu icon, when i try to launch the .exe from the program files directory, the screen flash but no IE. And if i use Maxthon (an advanced IE skin that use IE dll like mshtml.dll jscript.dll...) it works...

i will try the cd on another PC to see if the problem is the same

i will also try to build a new cd without 3rd party apps and drivers, with a standard winnt.sif file and with maybe only WMP11 to try to isolate the problem.

i've already tried with an sp2 CD + SP3 slipstream with the same bad result !...

Any advices are welcome

thanks
