I'm collecting feedback on questions like that... and will probably implement that soon...
h0rnytoad1 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) bugs?when i click a checkbox it doesnt work. i have to click twice or press teh space bar.it shows my already downloaded updates as downlaodable again, thats an old bug but it bugs me that it wants to redl them. plus the alternating yellow and white color serves to confuse people as to wether the update is already downloaded or not. all yellows should be for new downloads and white for already downloaded.i much prefered the old interface where u could check/uncheck a whole catergory with just 1 click.and everything was there in 1 place, not 6 tabs to go through.bring back the old interface plz.it was fine, and i liked it much more.i'm going back to old v2.30 Edited November 27, 2008 by h0rnytoad1
LordWarlock Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 What I like:1. TabsWhat I don't like:1. No highlighting (green - downloaded, yellow - missing, gray - ignored, perhaps even highlighting or XX/XX stats for tabs?)2. Everything is selected by default (should only select missing and unignored files)3. No way to select whole category (add a check box in the header?)4. Not enough space for update description5. Too small and nonresizable windowWhat should be added:1. A checkbox to permanently ignore a particular update, even if it's accidentally selected for downloada bit OT (UL file related):2. .NET Framework 3 and 3.53. Windows Installer 4.5

Not the only ones with confusion: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=126605http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=121015http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=123285I agree: Windows Home Server would be a nice addition too! I like to build an updated slipstreamed with all hotfixes and security updates from time to time. It appears all the XPsp2 and XPsp3 lists haven't been updated for some time.last updated 8/12/2008 - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...6450&st=380last updated 5/25/2008 - http://users.telenet.be/tc76/winup/_winxpsp2.htmllast updated 6/11/2008 - http://users.telenet.be/tc76/winup/_winxpsp3.htmllast updated 8/15/2008 - http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=74840 (soon to be de-stickied for lack of update from post by tommyp)I just stumbled across this: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=124566I'm reviewing it now and hope it provides more info.(Am I confusing multiple ways of slipstreaming the patches and hotfixes by looking at all those links above?)EDIT: SWEET! http://www.vorck.com/windows/hotfixes_xp.htmltommyp has an updated list for XPsp3! Combined with http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=126258 and new list could be compiled and used with WUD (if you like).I like HFSLIP so I'll be bulk downloading and using HFSLIP but am going to test WUD (by building my own list if I have time).tf Edited December 4, 2008 by turdflinger

So for example, it just says "Windows 2000" or "Windows XP" etc. Thus, this couldbe any of the service packs for the listed operating system not to mention those applications such asoffice not being updated for some time based on the date listed.Note: Besides the hotfixes and security patches, it would be nice to have a separate download file for eachOS that has the addons stuff. That is for example, the deploy, support, wscript, mmc, windowssymbol files directx updates etc.... stuff. The same applies for office etc. Edited December 4, 2008 by mikesw
rj66 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) Just to clarify...Baselines of the uls are:windows-2000-professional-x86-<lang>.ulSP4/IE6/WMP9windows-2003-server-x86-<lang>.ulSP1windows-xp-sp2-x86-<lang>.ulzSP2/IE6/WMP9 (not longer maintained)windows-xp-x86-<lang>.ulSP3/IE7/WMP11windows-vista-x86-<lang>.ulSP1@mikesw'Vista SP1 is missing with patches'can you be more specific?Rj. mikesw Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 windows-vista-x86-<lang>.ulSP1@mikesw'Vista SP1 is missing with patches'can you be more specific?Rj.Well you answered it. Above you list "windows vista x86 SP1". I presume its for x32 and x64.And since its SP1, I presume the downloader contains the fixes/patches to VISTA since SP1came out.
rj66 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Can't speak for the x64 version, i only do the x86 list.Rj.
jcarle Posted December 8, 2008 Author Posted December 8, 2008 An new version, Build 1275, has been posted that should address most of your concerns. Let me know what you guys think.
Yering Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 (edited) Love your work - this is a great application! But now for my feedback... I just downloaded build 1275 and am running it under vista home premium 64 bit, and it:1) downloads patches that I already have installed on the machine2) re downloads downloads patches that windows update downloader itself has already downloaded (installed or not).It would be great if you could fix these if / when you get a chance...
