Hi.

I'm trying to fix a HP computer which won't recognise a ps/2 keyboard. No ps/2 keyboard ever works in this machine (even though they work in other pc's), and they don't turn up in Device Manager either. Worse still, I can't even enter bios setup with any ps/2 kb. I managed to do a system restore (using a ps/2 mouse only) but that did nothing to get the kb recognised. Any suggestions?

All help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If USB keyboards also don't work, try resetting CMOS by pulling the battery out for a couple of minutes or using jumpers, if any.

In the (distant) past, there were cases of PS/2 circuits blowing off if mouse was plugged in keyboard port or vice versa. There were even fuses.

There were even fuses.
There still are, also for the USB ports but before the fuse blows more damage has been done (I´ve been there many times before, and it was hard to fix that.)
