Hi there, i have a problem with my PC since 4 months and i think for me it's time to change of OS.

In fact, my GC nVidia GeForce 8600 GT and my motherboard ASUS (with Vista) seems to be incompatibles (i have the "nvlddmkm syndrome")... otherwise i cannot play with my favorite game.

My question is simple (there are 2 in fact lol)

first : Do you think it's good (makeable) to change of OS ? (I bought my PC with Vista include and i haven't any drivers ...)

second : I tryed to make a bootable CD with nLite and i don't find the driver (.INF) for XP wich help the motherborad to support SATA ...

My config :

Intel® core 2CPU 4300 @ 1.80 GHz 1.80 GHz

RAM : 2.50 Go

NVidia GeForce 8600 GT (lasts drivers)

Vista 32

Cable connection

My Motherboard Intel D946GZIS

Thanks to read me, excuse my english, i hope u understand what a wrote here lol

looks like your hardware should be able to run XP well (i dont see any hardware that has vista only drivers)

Intel D946GZIS Motherboard Drivers for XP!

Current WHQL Nvidia drivers

as for the question about making a bootable CD with nlite, I never liked playing the INF guessing game with slipping a single driver. my prefered method is to use Driverpack MassStorage (and any others you might want)

if you add DP MassStorage to your XP CD, itll work on 99% of every PC ever made. (personally ive only had 2 models that wouldnt work.)

also, if you would prefer to address your nvlddmkm problem, you might try using a driver newer than the ones officially available. (but not omega drivers or other such hacked up nonsense) guru3d has nvidia drivers that are released with newer cards that have had their INFs modified to run on older hardware (the driver itself is untouched and is usually stable)

You can run XP.

You need the drivers from each manufacturer. Videocard, motherboard.... etc. Go through each one. Download them, install XP, then install the drivers.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for your help !!! :thumbup - i used nLite and DP's and it's worked fine :)

I tried my ISO with virtual pc and XP 's installed :)

BUT, now i have another problem (wich i hadn't think) ... how could i remove entierely VISTA from my HD ?

I would specify that my computer was bough with "VISTA inside" and i haven't the vista CD.

I prefer remove entierly vista to gain space on my HD, because it's one of the problems i have with vista (the size and the "weight" of this OS).

One time again i hope you clearly understand my post  , if you didn't tell me where and i tried to explain this :)

When you boot with the CD with XP on it, it will ask you if you want to format the drive. Format the entire drive then install XP on.

Hard disks are cheap these days so leave that recovery partition where it is; you will throw away more cash than buying a new hard disk when removing that recovery partition. You can also call the OEMs service desk to order a DVD but I don´t know the price of that...
