Some of the three existing "other" votes may have been for Vista Codec Pack.

Vista Codec Pack because it works, isnt bloated with lots of codecs, the author is responsive, and final releases are more frequent than say...CCCP.

K-Lite Mega for XP, with all options checked.

There are also separate K-Lite codecs for Vista and Win-7.

One download won't do you for life. New packs are released quite often, like updates to your AV software.

Those Codec packs are FREE, so update them often.
