VOB to AVI converter

Hello everyone.

First off, I'm hoping this topic doesn't venture too far off what's allowable, but here goes.

I'm in need of a program that converts vob files to avi. There seems to be a lot of software out there, and I have tried a couple so far; VirtualDub & Power Video Converter.

I have 10 vob files (~160mb total) that I would like to merge and convert to what seems to be the popular codecs (Xvid or Divx - not sure if those are actually both the same). I'd like to be able to convert them to about 20-25% of their original size (so - about 40mb).

When I used the above programs I listed, I ended up with a vob file that is ~16mb in size ending up to be a ~450mb avi file. That's what I got using both programs. Obviously I have no comprehension of how these programs work, and perhaps someone can recommend (freeware) to me that can accomplish my objective.

AutoGordianKnot or MediaCoder (both freeware).

I am not sure if MediaCoder does VOBs, though.

There is a sticky in the "Network & Internet" sub forum. Seems like "Super" does what you want. I never used it.
