phaolo
Hello, I'm searching for a replacement of cmdow.exe for unattended installations as the program cannot completely hid dos windows (they flash and then disappear). A simple update would be great because it would save me the pain to modify many self-extracting archives (they use batch files for the settings) I don't hope in such a miracle, so I found other utilities like:cWnd11cmdhide.exe RunHiddenConsole.exeNIRCMD.EXEWhich one is the best? Before finding bad surprises I'd like an advice.. Can anyone help me? Edited July 14, 2008 by phaolo

DigeratiPrime
hidcon as Jaclaz mentioned can hide the command window completely just use "hidcon file.cmd".Another is RunHiddenConsole.exe but I think I remember having problems using it with 16bit applications like format.com
jaclaz
I may have been too laconic:Hello, I'm searching for a replacement of cmdow.exe .....Which one is the best?Another one, hidcon.exe:http://www.msfn.org/board/Alternative-To-C...1.html&st=5Ok that's another one thanks. But which is the best? The idea was of a direct answer, lke "None on your list, this other one", rather than an "add this to the list", that one being what in my personal opinion is the best, of course your mileage may vary. jaclaz Edited July 16, 2008 by jaclaz
dennis123123
hidcon.exe is the only one which I found to not be flagged as a "potentially unwanted app" by stupid virus scanners.I'm sure you can imagine the hassle I got running some of my own sfx packed portable apps (with cmdow) on peoples computers when their beloved "Norton extra bloated security bloatware" popped up saying I'd installed trojans on their PC http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/898d5c8...79f044540f88cb0 Edited July 16, 2008 by dennis123123
phaolo
Thanks for the answers, I'll check hidcon then.Luckly I discovered that I wisely used cmdow in only 6 main batch files and not inside all auto-extracting archives (I created the first cd one year ago). Phew!p.s: ok jaclaz Edited July 16, 2008 by phaolo
