weEvil Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I am trying to install the Realtek RTL8139/810x driver. One from the Toshiba support section, and the newest from Realtek.Nothing.Whenever I try to install manually with the inf, it crashes at the end of copying the rtenicxp.sys file. I tried rebooting in safe mode, installed it, rebooted in normal mode and xp wouldn't start. What can I do?Maybe try the win2000 driver?
CoffeeFiend Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Crashing how? BSOD? Failed to copy file? Maybe it creates a log file while installing. Otherwise, try logging the install with process monitor perhaps. Maybe a file is missing or such (seen that plenty of times).Anything extra would be useful, screenshots, log files, minidumps if it's a BSOD, etc
Tripredacus Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Make sure the hardware ID is listed in the INF file. Otherwise, you'd be telling Windows to install a driver for a device that doesn't exist on the system, and it will definately complain about that.
