kiyotaka Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I'm working with XP Home oem in helping a NPO refurbish PCS.I Slipstreamed SP3 into XP Home OEM (from a vanilla Sp2 CD)However I've been unable to get it to accept any of the key codes I've given it off of the COA on machines...Xp Pro OEM works like a charm however. Is this possibly a bug in SP3?
Kelsenellenelvian Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 DID you do your slipstreaming in Vista or 2008?
PC_LOAD_LETTER Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Q: My CD key no longer works after Slipstreaming SP3:A: Don't Slipstream XP SP3 from a PC running Vista or Server 2008. Windows XP GOLD/SP0/RTM, SP1, SP3 and Server 2003 are all confirmed to work properlyhttp://www.msfn.org/board/Windows-XP-SP3-FAQ-t117175.html
kiyotaka Posted May 11, 2008 Author Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) Great thanks!, that was probably the issue! strangely enough I've had no issue with slipstreaming before Sp3, or slipstreaming SP3 into XP pro Ret/OEM Edited May 11, 2008 by kiyotaka
kiyotaka Posted May 16, 2008 Author Posted May 16, 2008 Update: Redid the slipstream in XP and still having Home OEM keys being rejected
erpdude8 Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 yea, I'm scratching my head on this one, kiyotaka. your existing XP Home OEM key should work with slipstreamed SP3.not sure why it didn't. I have two XP Home CDs, one XP Home upgrade (retail) and the other XP Home SP1 (OEM).the existng product key from the old XP Home Retail upgrade CD now Slipstreamed with SP3 still worked on one of my XP machines. I'll try slipstreaming SP3 on the XP Home SP1 (OEM) cd later today to see if the product key on there still works on my brother's XP laptop.
gosh Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 The CD key has to match your XP CD.Take a screenshot of the screen you get when you enter the product key. Run xp setup within windows, and when you get prompted for the cd key, take a screenshot and post it, and i can verify what version you have.-gosh
erpdude8 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 sorry I didn't post back a few months sooner. I've been very busy for several weeks now.the existng product key from the old XP Home Retail upgrade CD now Slipstreamed with SP3 still worked on one of my XP machines. I'll try slipstreaming SP3 on the XP Home SP1 (OEM) cd later today to see if the product key on there still works on my brother's XP laptop. And the OEM CD Key worked with the slipstreamed Windows XP SP3.note that I used a tool called Autostreamer to do the sp3 slipstreaming with the XP OEM home ed. CD. I seem to have great success with it. Do Google or Yahoo searches on "Autostreamer", download it and use it to slipstream XP SP3 with your XP CD.
