Nlited XP post installation problem

Hi all,

I've done an NLITED winXP pro SP2 installation, i love the speedy installation and now my laptop boots up real quick. however, after the installation, i kept getting this irritating popup after every bootup:

Title: Windows File Protection

"Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files"

Insert your Windows XP Professional CD-ROM now

When i clicked on "cancel", this popup appears:

Title: Windows File Protection

"You chose not to restore the original version of the files. This may affect Windows stability. Are you sure you want to keep these unrecognized file versions?"

When I clicked on "Yes", the first popup re-appears. The cycle continues for about 8 times until finally it stops.

Does anyone knows how to rid of this problem? please help. Thank you in advance..

In the link i gave you there should be a downloadlink for a tool to deaktivate WFP! ;)

You misunderstood me! I dont talk about the futer of nlite, i was talking about your next nlite run! :)

There is the option for years (i would gues it allways was) to deaktivate the WFP! :P

Just for the record, the reference thread is XP SP3 RC1 specific.

nlite uses a different method, that was first "discovered" by Damian Bakowsky, was introduced to Fdv filesets, perfectioned for win2k, then made it's way into HFSLIP and nlite for XP:

Basically with this method you create an empty list of files to be checked, which equates to having nothing checked while having the WFP running "normally", some details are here:

And here:

Cannot say whether WFPswitch.exe uses the same approach, here is it's homepage:

For the curious, here is the source I used for the file, as well as the DLL itself. (Think of it as a 'fork' of Damian's work in that it works the same way but is a little different.)

Long story short, I used to keep SFC turned off, until one day I wasn't thinking and installed a legacy piece of software that overwrote several of my DLLs... So now I keep it on :blushing:
