How do people get to 2 - 3 Gb installation Size.

On ultimate edition, I remove many things similar to those getting 1.5 - 2Gb installation size.

Apart from i kept the CJK languages which is only 1Gb.

so in theory my Installation should be 3 - 4Gb. But i am still geting a 5Gb installtion. That is already excluding Hibernate File and Page File.

Does Ultimate Edition and Basic Edition makes a difference?

I though Basic Edition doesn't include Aero Glass, which i think defeat the purpose of Vista.

And Also how do i turn off Hibernate as Default in vlite? I dont want to do CMD powercfg everytime.

You probably have 64bit version when it is so difficult to go below 5gb?

There is component size info in the upper right so there is no issue with deciding on your own what is biggest. Ultimate/Home edition should not be that different, but 32bit/64bit is almost double.

Try removing more languages, if you need just Simplified Chinese then remove Traditional (let me know if that causes issues).

Hibernate option is in Tweaks page, enable it in the Tasks.

My Installation w/o most languages except Japanese, is 4.2gb. I've removed most things that people still keep, like the Media "addons" (software) what comes with Vista. Other things are such as IE and the mail "whatever it's called" software.

But then again, I removed most drivers since I don't use a printer/scanner and the same goes for most hardware brands.

But I will probably remove the gadget thingie next install, as it proved to be useless (I only wanted to try it out ^^).

My goal is to make Vista as Slim as possible without making it to unbearable. I want the graphical enhancements w/o using WB or OD, but I can probably forget that ^^

Mine is HomePremium 64, but I squeezed it down to 1.6 gigs.

The biggest file was the speech related items. The one under services was almost a gig by itself.

I also dropped IE and went with Safari in its place.

And all the media stuff that wasn't needed. Note that I don't use media player or any MS programs for watching DVD's or playing music.

So may I ask how if there are .wmv files on say a web page...how do you view/listen to those?
