March 13, 200818 yr please help me decide - should i get 2 x 2gb DDR2 667 or should i just stick with 1 x 2gb DDR2 800 for the moment.what's the advantage / disadvantage / benefits...i'm using e6750 & p5b deluxe
March 13, 200818 yr Author yap. mb is dual channel capable so is the mems.i can overclock my proc to 3.2 using 400 fsb x 8.
March 13, 200818 yr Then I too would stick with the 667 ram.The advantage you get just from running in dual channel mode out-weighs the benifit of the slightly faster ram. Edited March 13, 200818 yr by Kelsenellenelvian
March 13, 200818 yr I see absolutly no advantage comparing 1-2 gig stick of ddr2 800 over 2-2gig ddr2 667 sticks in dual channel mode. Edited March 13, 200818 yr by Kelsenellenelvian
March 13, 200818 yr this shows the difference from slowest ddr2 to fastesthttp://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardware/122...-vs-pc7100.htmlafter reading i dont see much point unless you insist on running your CPU and RAM at a 1:1 ratio
March 13, 200818 yr please help me decide - should i get 2 x 2gb DDR2 667 or should i just stick with 1 x 2gb DDR2 800 for the moment. So, you OC your FSB from 200 to 400MHz, correct? So your 1.6GHz CPU will be clocked at 3.2GHz (Celeron 420 or E2140?)Then you need 800MHz RAM, besides that, why would you buy 2x 2GB 667 and not 1x 2GB 800 extra? Also be prepared to "loose" 256 to 768MB of your RAM when using a 32bit OS.
March 14, 200818 yr Author i've read that there are some problems with 4 x 1gb and that 2x2gb generates less heat
March 14, 200818 yr Well, the heat I won’t worry about that much, and problems with 4 sticks of 1GB on your motherboard I never saw, even 4 sticks of 2GB work well...
