Truth about SP1 slipstreaming:

http://blogs.technet.com/kevinremde/archiv...-vista-sp1.aspx

just to be clear, Its not that they are not 'allowing' anymore is that they have disabled it because at this point in time its a broken feature (due to adding the new Update Services)

"Vista Service Pack 1 will not be able to be applied as an offline update to prestaged install images," Zipkin told me. "But this will work as planned with future update, post-SP1 updates. We ran into some unexpected issues with the

servicing stack, so we can't do it for SP1. But we're planning to add this capability for SP2, though we can't make any promises. This will be a bigger issue around SP2 than it is now. We think this is a one time thing. But you can still make your own slipstream DVD using the old '-integrate' method as with XP if you want to."

as for ISO availability the timetable is here:

there is a download of the image here:

but i haven't tried it so i can say if if/how that will work

Can anybody with access to SP1 confirm whether you can slipstream the SP1 bits into a Vista RTM installation disk using the -integrate switch, just like with XP?

Vista SP1 cannot be "slipstreamed" to an offline Vista image (and that includes the RTM install.wim from the Vista CD).

The only way is to make an image, install the SP, then read the new WAIK documentation on how to sysprep that properly. Or, get a DVD from Microsoft with SP1 included.

I'm a eta tester and was one of the first to download the full SP1 DVD. it was in a format just like my OEM Ultimate from ASUS. I thought it would slipsteram with the layout, I've since been informed I should not have got that edition as it was not to be downloaded. Unoficially I was told to just move over the OEM folder and the packages xml.....So if Ms wanted to they could slip it. The download has now changed and its a exe file, so somehow I got an adition that is not available, don't know how, it was on Ms Connect Update.

I've wrote the DVD but not tried it yet as I'm in the middle of other things....I'll report when I have
