[Help] My computer crashes when opened

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Whenever I open my computer, or any other explorer window, my system just locks up. I can still use firefox, but I can't do anything else. Even the Run dialog box locks up on me.

It all really started whenever I installed Firefox 2.0.0.8 RC2. I have another XP computer with 2.0.0.8 final which has no issues at all.

Does anyone know what's wrong?

If Firefox is, in fact, the problem, have you tried booting into Safe Mode, uninstalling it, and trying out your computer once more?

I turned my computer off this morning, and I just turned it back on, and all seems well. I have no clue why. I;m guessing it's just one of those things that happens randomly.

There is never any acceptable thing that happens randomly. Check your event viewer to see if you have any errors.

I thought it would be inconsequential, but I deleted a couple of large files off one of my drives because I suspected they were corrupt. Believe it or not, the computer is working much better now.

The files were on a network drive, if that helps.
