z0mbi3
ok... i've searched around a bit on the forum and the net and havnt found a thing....but anyways... I have a 230GB Seagate HDD and I just recently reinstalled Windows XP Home.... when I got to select where I wanted it installed I went to choose the HD but noticed it only read 120GB.... I've formated the drive and still reads the same amount.... its always read correctly beforeit was just until when I went to reformat it read 120gb was the max capacity.... Any ideas?TIAAnthony
clidx
are you using at least sp1? i think 48bit lba for disks larger than 120gb was only included in sp1 or something like that.you can just fix it by installing sp1.otherwise you might need to upgrade your bios i think.(or does 48 bit lba only apply to ide drives?) Kelsenellenelvian
Yeah you'll need to integrate one of the service packs might as well go for SP2.
puntoMX
(or does 48 bit lba only apply to ide drives?)No, that’s for all storage in general (there are some exceptions).
clidx
thanks for the info punto. the 48 bit lba site says for ata drives only, but then i remembered that site was probably made before people started using sata :S Edited October 21, 2007 by clidx
puntoMX
No, it’s for removable media also, like Flash devices .
