Temporary Temporary Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I'm pretty sure that you've all read something like this for the umpteenth time, but since I haven't found any FAQ here and obviously I'm not all too great at using the search function to find the answers that I need, I'll have to post the following questions.I've used HFSLIP to slipstream service packs and the like into an image. With a few minor issues it seemed to be successful. But that is the point. SEEMED TO BE. How to I know for sure what success I have had? I've found a log: HFSLIP.log but all I found in there was a list of files that I had added to HFSLIP. On the site http://hfslip.org/support.html, it says to use HFNETCHK.zip, but that SEEMS to have not worked. There is no logging of successful or not successful, so that leaves me confused. I got to the point where I burned the image to CDROM and then installed it on an uninstalled PC. It installed fine, but what happened when I tried installing other software on that PC was that I got a message that the windows installer was not installed properly. Since it was not installed properly, I take it that it may not have been correctly slipstreamed. How do I know what programs or service packs have been properly been slipstreamed and which I have to slipstream manually or add to SVCPACK.inf? Thanks for your time and replies in advance.Cor
tommyp Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 There's plenty of info on hfslip.org. I suppose you can visit windows update to confirm installation of all the updates instead of hfnetchk. Or you can use the microsoft baseline analyzer as well. As far as the installer issure, you'll have to post your hfslip.log file, but I must say that you should double check your file list against tomcat76's list, it's up to you to be sure that you included all required updates (see TC's page) and not use ones that you aren't supposed to.
badrad600 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 There's a really small and lightweight but fast and easy program you can use to check and see what Windows updates have been installed. It's called WinUpdatesList, and can be found at http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wul.html . It's completely free, and I use it fairly often. It seems to work well.

It took me a while to tinker with it, but it really works (compared to Microsoft software which is like russian roulette). I've manage to slipstream almost everything perfectly except when it comes down to Media Player 9, during setup (when it's almost finished), I get a syntax error. Considering that everything else has worked, that's a 99.9% score. I gotta admit you guys are pretty *censored* good at this. Thanks a million. :thumbup
