bravotech Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I created an iso using vlite 1.0 final using the session.ini below, and Vista Firewall fails to load. Service-specific error code 5. Could it be ICS that is needed? ; vLite preset file[information]Version = 1.0 on 2.0.50727.312 Microsoft Windows NT 6.0.6000.0Target = Windows Vista BUSINESS 32bit [Compatibility]ACDSee / XnViewPaint.NETAero GlassInternet ExplorerScanners and CamerasWindows Fax and Scan[Components];# Accessories #AccessibilityPaintWelcome Center;# Drivers #ModemsPrinters-ApolloPrinters-BrotherPrinters-CanonPrinters-CitizenPrinters-DellPrinters-DiconixPrinters-EpsonPrinters-Fuji XeroxPrinters-FujitsuPrinters-GenericPrinters-GestetnerPrinters-IBMPrinters-InfotecPrinters-KonicaPrinters-Konica MinoltaPrinters-Kyocera MitaPrinters-LanierPrinters-MinoltaPrinters-Minolta-QMSPrinters-NECPrinters-NRGPrinters-OcePrinters-OkiPrinters-OkidataPrinters-OlivettiPrinters-PanasonicPrinters-QMSPrinters-RicohPrinters-SamsungPrinters-SavinPrinters-SeikoshaPrinters-SharpPrinters-SonyPrinters-StarPrinters-TallyPrinters-TektronixPrinters-Wipro ePeripheralsPrinters-Xerox;# Games #Inbox GamesPremium Inbox Games;# Hardware Support #Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI)Smartcards;# Languages #JapaneseKoreanSimplified Chinese;# Multimedia #Movie and DVD MakerSample PicturesScreensaversSideShowWallpapersWindows Media Samples;# Network #Connect to a Network ProjectorInternet Information ServicesMSN Installer;# Services #Error ReportingInternet Connection Sharing (ICS);# System #Game ExplorerMalicious Software Removal ToolManual InstallNatural LanguageReadyBoostSecurity CenterSystem RestoreTablet PCWindows DefenderWindows Easy TransferWindows SAT[Options]Hibernation = Off[Protection][Drivers][unattended]AcceptEULASkipNewUserSkipProductKeySkipAutoActivationDefaultProductKey = 0
slipk487 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 in xp that is the case. but i thought the vista had a separate service for the firewall and internet connect sharing. did you check to make sure the firewall service was running.
bravotech Posted September 4, 2007 Author Posted September 4, 2007 I actually discovered it when I tried to enable Remote Desktop. It failed and complained that Windows Firewall is not running, therefore it cannot auto config remote desktop.Next, I confirm it is set to autostart, but currently not running. I manually start it, failed with error code 5.
bravotech Posted September 4, 2007 Author Posted September 4, 2007 I just reviewed my session again and still can't find anything else that could be the cause. Can't possibly be IIS or Windows SAT... I'm beginning to be convinced WFW is dependent on ICS.
slipk487 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 (edited) that is weird that there is an rror trying to start it. did u set it to auto and try restarting the computer. Edited September 4, 2007 by slipk487
bravotech Posted September 4, 2007 Author Posted September 4, 2007 It's been thru restart, yes. The firewall service was autostart to begin with. I didn't set it autostart, as you can see from session.ini no removing/tampering in that area.
Legolash2o Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 (edited) dont remove Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Edited September 4, 2007 by legolash2o
bravotech Posted September 4, 2007 Author Posted September 4, 2007 legolash2o I'm quite convinced that's the dependency, will be trying it later tonight.
jamieo Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Isn't ICS actually listed as a dependency for WF in vLite? At least, I reported it long ago and I'm sure nuhi added it.
