chillinfart Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Currently i have an almost died siemens MC60 and i need a replacement. My mobile operator can deal me a little discount over its stuff, but none of the phones that they have are useful to me(stupid wind*ws NT). Im planning to see en second hand market(or black market if other option is not available . Nah).Anybody knows about what telephones has camera, mp3 support(my ipod mini looks ugly for the usage that i do) and a slot, but compatible with win98?Last siemens(now Benq) models doesn't show info about it. Nokia, sony apple and motorola aren't in my plans(100% no compatibility)

dencorso Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 (edited) The problem is the software, not the phones. Third party applications like Oxygen Manager substitute completely the vendor's bundled software. But even Oxygen Manager doesn't support Win 98 SE. However its much less known competitor, MobTime does, although it is very resource hungry. Both are shareware, not free. I've posted on it before, because MobTime solved my problem of managing my Nokia 6111 in Win 98SE quite nicely. It certaily supports other brands, but I don't remember which now. See: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...70743&st=13. I use IrDA for phone to computer connectivity, and that's why I selected the 6111. Then again, if your new phone has a USB connection, maybe NUSB will suffice to solve your problem, provided it is able to map your new phone as a common storage device, same as it does to i-Pods and many cameras. You can't be sure before you try it. So, I think the best strategy would be to decide on some phones as possibilities, find friends who already have them and are willing to let you use theirs to test with NUSB, and then find out in practice which ones work, before deciding which one to buy. Good luck! HTH Edited September 3, 2007 by dencorso

If is true i can share memory sticks with my family Im looking for a siemens phone, S65 but it's site doesn't give any info about software(and i have some problems with my current MC60 over windows-98 and 2000).

chillinfart Posted September 10, 2007 Author Posted September 10, 2007 Other thing. ¿Anyone has tested the iphone over win 98 or 2000? Looks interesting but i have doubts about it's usb support(only says usb 2.0, but not if is compatible with usb 1.1 or not) and if i can do the same trick that with my ipod mini is possible.
