Not able to install MSJVM

I have windows xp service pack 2 installed on my system.

There is a very peculiar problem I am facing with my computer.

I want to open a online stock trading a/c and the ticker on the website of the depository works on MSJVM.

When I downloaded the MSJVM from the company website, its installation shows me complete, but I cant see option of MSJVM in internet properties>advanced, which according to company official should show.

Later on we uninstalled java which was already installed on my system and reinstalled the MSJVM but even this didn’t helped.

He even cleared the registry files and even removed java folder from windows folder in my c drive.

Since last few days I have been trying to figure out the problem but couldn’t found any answer.

What company official was saying to me that normally once we install MSJVM on a system, the option should come in internet properties>advanced where one can check and uncheck the MSJVM option once the same is installed.

Could anybody please help me sort out this problem? And provide the solution to this problem.

The trading site does support MSJVM otherwise I will not be able to view the live quotes.

Thanks in advance

Ashish

MSJVM is Microsoft's cruddy, bug-ridden and really really old rip-off of the Sun Java virtual machine. MSJVM was killed off before the release of Windows XP because of the sheer obviousness of Microsoft's abuse.

Go to java.com and download java.

After installing -

- Start Internet Explorer

- Click "Tools" (at the top)

- Click "Internet Options"

- Click "Advanced" (at the top)

- All of the Internet Explorer Settings will be listed. Just scroll down to "Microsoft VM" and Enable it by clicking on the "circle" which makes a "black dot". Note that you must also Restart.

- Now click "Apply" (at the bottom)

Restart (it will do it for you, tell it "Yes"). Voila! MSJVM is activated.

Uh, yeah, that SHOULD work too! Either way...

MSJVM hasn't been developed in ages - you really should be using Sun's JVM instead, unless you have an application written in J# that you must use msjvm for. The support for it ends in December of this year as well, so not even security updates at that point.

this is not what he asked

So you registered to point out something mostly irrelevant in a 6 month old reply to a question that's over a year old? ...

Edit: If you had a problem, you could have actually mentioned it if you wanted help (e.g. "Hey guys, I have the same problem, and I tried x, y and z, any clues?" instead of just "it don't work") or some kind of useful answer (instead of being pointed out for digging up old threads for no apparent reason). But help you when you got that attitude? Yeah right. No point in repeating I_Broke_My_MHZ & cluberti's point either...
