Featured Replies

hi, i've been trying to get a freinds computer going now for a month or 2.... been trying to replace almost all parts.... i just recived the cpu (754 amd athlon cpu)... and the mb was tested by mercury fine... but now after i hooked it up, i push the power button and with all the ram in... the cpu fan spins for couple seconds..no video.. then off... so i tried pulling out all ram... it stays on but no video.... so then i put one ram stick in the dim2 slot... it stays on but no video.... and then when i put one rma stiuck only in dim1 it stop.... what might this mean?... could it possibley be mb shorting out off case?, thxs, shawn

First try another Power Supply (PSU), if that does not help, unplug all that you can from your mobo that is not necessary for a computer to boot up.

Try this.

Do not unplug your video card.

Put one stick of ram at the right place.

make sure your 20pin connector is plugged in right and the same goes for the 4 pin CPU connector.

Remove anything plugged in the IDE socket (both of them if u have 2).

Start the PC and go in the Bios.

Leave it there for 30min to an hour.

If this works, replug your hard drive and/or cd.

If it fails after that. That means that your IDE connector is defective. CHANGE YOUR BOARD!

This story happened to my brother in law. He did not listen to me and tried to make it work some other way. long story short:

He blew is PSU and most of is hardware in the process. CHANGE THE BOARD i told him.

Good luck

what kind of RAM is it? if its RD RAM, then of course there will be issues.

change the PSU first, if that doesn't change it, and the computer has RD RAM, then i may know whats wrong.
