new MB, P35 or 650i chipset ?

Featured Replies

What do you think, I am not so up to date on thoses new chipsets.

I hesitate between Asus board with a P35 or a Asus with a 650i chipset.

If you want to build a power machine or a gaming machine, don't buy either. Wait for the Intel X38 chipset to come out.

ya that will definatly be the winner once it comes out, but at the moment P35 is the winner.

it sucks when you but a good P35 board and then something better comes out a month later... but isnt that always the case with hardware?

Yes, but in this case the difference is going to be fairly substantial. For starters, the X38 will "supposedly" have PCIe 2.0 support.

Good choice. And if the X38 isn't all that its cracked up to be, but that time you can get a P35 or a 680i (or even 700 series) for cheap.

ya but unless you are going to get a really expensive video card, it wont really matter.

Actually...I read a rumor earlier today that NVIDIA is working on updating the 8x00 line for PCIe 2.0. Also, remember that the spec is backwards compatible. The next generation GPUs will probably be native PCIe 2.0.
