  1. I found a page with a little info about systray.exe... http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms790410.aspx "The SysTray program (Systray.exe) is responsible for displaying the speaker icon when it is turned on and for hiding the speaker icon when it is turned off...If your sound card's volume level can be changed under software control, a speaker icon appears on the taskbar." For this win me systray is not compatible with certain sound cards.
  2. @ Erpdude: I've translated SP for win98FE in italian, in particular USER.EXE. How can I to edit LCID ? I must use hex-edit? If yes, where?
  3. Ok, however in my italian release I remove sounds.cpl.
  4. 98MP10 doesn't work well on Win ME. http://www.image-share.net/image/4199/29.JPG First error is: "error during loading of powrprof.dll", second error is "setupapi.dll not found". Infact after 98mp10 installation, in c:\windows\system there is only setupapi.mp9 and not .dll: http://www.image-share.net//image/4199/setupapi.JPG Renaming setupapi.mp9 in setupapi.dll, and rebooting the problem is solved. Instead to be advpack.dll, there is only advpack.mp9 Renaming in advpack.dll, I can finally uninstall my unofficial SP.
  5. Thanks a lot for finding the "culprits".About systray.exe: I don't even use systray.exe [M$ bloat ] anymore. Not necessary on my computer. I've deleted it. About sounds.cpl: Sounds.cpl from WinME [renamed from mmsys.cpl] is the additional multimedia + audio CPL [control panel applet], but the default one from Win98 SE called mmsys.cpl is still there in %windir%\system , so no problem, if sounds.cpl doesn't work for whatever reason, you always have the original mmsys.cpl to play with. After all, sounds.cpl is there to perform only 1 function: to access the Voice tab, otherwise not available in Win98 SE mmsys.cpl. Quoted from READ1ST.TXT [from the "98SE2ME.PIF COMPLETE GUIDE" section]: READ1ST.TXT So please let me know... if I understand correctly, the WinME .SYS [WDM] drivers installed in %windir%\system32\drivers by options 1 + 2 work ok on your computer with your sound card chipset? Because if they do, option 9 is not necessary at all, and I'll remove it when I post the next update. I'll also remove systray.exe 4.90.3002 and replace it with modded 4.10.2224 from NUSB 3.1 English, in which I have replaced the ugly IDI_PCMCIA icon group with SHELL32.DLL icon group 312 from WinXP SP2 [feature requested by PROBLEMCHYLD a while back, and implemented also into WinME systray.exe 4.90.3002]. HTH Yeah, you can delete option 9. Sounds.cpl doesn't work for me, in particular Voice tab and Sound effects tab (the first before Audio tab). Original Mmsys.cpl is ok. Systray.exe 4.90.0.3002 must be removed. About 98MP10, see also this topic: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=89934
  6. Sorry, mate.I can't test this, I don't have the necessary hardware. Please try to eliminate 1 file at a time if you have the time, and then post here if you find which file(s) cause this problem. HTH Deleting WDM files does not solve the problem, for experience. I can restore image of Windows 98 SE (clean) and to create a modified version of 98se2me that excludes all files suspected. In description of option 9 add (required for certaind sound card, as creative soundblaster live value or I've tried all, I don't think that the problem is 98se2me but soundblaster 16 live value drivers... removed more times (also manually drivers files). when I can, I'll try to format and reinstall Win98 by zero, installing audio drivers after 98se2me. MDGX! I found problem, it's systray.exe 4.90.0.3002 and sounds.cpl !!! Now volume icon is visible, before this was not possible. However it is always necessary option 9 to install win me files. You can exclude systray.exe (including 4.10.0.2224 version) and remove sounds.cpl only in option 9. Practically in this way option 9 keeps original audio settings, without sounds and multimedia for recent sound cards I suppose.
  7. Maybe the problem is in my SYSTRAY.EXE, file Version is 4.90.0.3002 (ita), file size 67.072 byte (after Revolutions Pack 7-- patch). I can't make this modify to solve my problem. The pattern 75 1B 52 68 is not present in my SYSTRAY.EXE: Can you help me? SYSTRAY.EXE file attached in this post. Thanx In your attachment systray is 4.90.0.3002, not 4.10.0.2224. However I've done, changed byte 75 with EB. Let me know absolutely. SYSTRAY_modified.rar

  10. @ MDGX: There is a pm for you, with many italian localizations. I prefer to avoid to publish links here for problems of traffic.

  12. Please, just what problems have you in beta 8? List me problems. I've intention to update localization of SP in my language.
  13. I'm completely available, also for translation of copy2gb fix for any Windows Version. What must I do? I've a forum with some users that use win98fe... in case I'll send them every fix available. Erpdude, I've recently localized in italian your last version of SP for Win FE here (for registered users, if you want that I make an account for you, notice me): http://www.eng2ita.net/forum/index.php?topic=1343.0 Unfortunately I still wait one test.... I hope in some results of 3-4 users.
  14. And no need for a reboot/restart.Please test them here: * Unofficial Windows 95/OSR1/OSR2/98/98 SP1/98 SE/ME 2007 U.S.A. + Western Australian (Perth) Daylight Saving Time (DST) Cumulative Time Zone Update: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=931836 - English Update [112 KB]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/Q931836.EXE - Italian Update [115 KB]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/IT931836.EXE Of course, this can be translated into other (supported) languages if any1 wants to do it. HTH Works fine for me.
  15. I remember you my localization, take simply italian oledlg.dll and create italian oledlg.exe to post in your site. http://uploaded.to/?id=4s2pgf
  16. Have you tried to install option 9 [the new option without WDM drivers]?Option 2 does install the WDM drivers [*.SYS] into %windir%\system32\drivers , but option 9 does not. Quoted from READ1ST.TXT [the "98SE2ME.PIF COMPLETE GUIDE" section]: READ1ST.TXT HTH Unfortunately I've followed instructions, but the problem remains. Make sure when you install option 9, your Win98 SE is "clean", without any other older 98SE2ME installs. If you have previously installed 98SE2ME options 1 or 2 in the past, make sure you backed up your OS, and then restored it. If you don't have a backup from before installing 98SE2ME, you may need to reinstall Win98 SE "clean". Only after that install 98SE2ME option 9. HTH Windows 98SE is absolutely clean... then another user on my forum has same problem installing first time 98se2me on a clean Win98se. Italian 98se2me is aligned with your last release.
  17. The package as it exists contains all the updates for Win98se --- the only reason it doesn't work for the other versions of Windows is that their hotfixes haven't been included (although there is lots of overlap) and their data hasn't been included in the modules ... there is no reason why the structure of the program can't be used for the other OSes --- just replace the data inside the modules - different file names and check info, that's it! --- THAT is possible ... Ok. Are you available to send you all italian localization of updates to convert them in unattended? I need only this.... it can be 20 italian updates about.
  18. Nope ... My intention is to realize three packages of italian AP (for win98se, 98, ME). Is there a hope? THX and great work, I've tested AP english and is wonderful.
  19. Auto-Patcher for win 98 se can run on win me or win 98 fe?
  20. Infact doesn't work for me..... some file surely makes troubles with volume control.
  21. If you would like to create a French version [translate the scripts: INF, SED + TXT], I can send them to you.But make sure the DLLs you put in are the original French versions from M$.
