Hey Restarted my file server today, no changes no updates etc. Tested all services when it booted back up and know I have a very intermittent connection to file shares on that system. I can access them fine for about 10 minutes and then it just seems to crash explorer windows out. We are using mapped network drives. There is nothing in the event logs so that’s why I’m a little confused. its a windows 2003 box with sp1 Any ideas guys??

The server also uses kaspersky anti-virus for email scanning and there is a problem with that at the moment. maybe that is linked? Event source is: Microsoft Exchange Server and the log is in application the server is running sp2 and sp2 for exchange. It handles the backup role only and that is hosted by backup exec. it also does exchange features like webmail and oma. The domain controller is also windows 2003 with sp2, No adobe updates have been applied and adobe acrobat isn’t installed. I have checked the raid logs and there dont seem to be any errors there. Hi Guys, I'm working with a Windows 2003 box with exchange 2003 installed on it. The machine is part of a fairly large domain. This is the second time the machine has just locked up for no reason. It’s just seems to become unresponsive, no mouse I can’t ping the machine and the screen is frozen. This server is using raid 1 for the o/s raid 1 for the logs and raid 5 for the databases. The machine seems to lockup in the morning at around 7:00, the event logs shows this error: "The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Exchange Server ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: exsp.dll, 6.5.7638.1, 430e735b, pdfl60.dll, 6.1.0.0, 40bcc106, 0, 0000a3c5." Has anyone come across this error before? When I restart the machine its fine, and that stands out in the event log. Cheers

If i also look in the fonts folder it appears empty!! If i browse to it using a \\computername\c$ all the files appear. do you think this is a permission error?

Hey Guys, recently installed vista and its been working ok for a few days now. Just had a bluescreen and now vista looks like this? Is the system font corrupt? I have tried to reset styles and themes, shall i just do a system repair? Any help would be great. picture attached

Hey Guys, Im trying to send mail via smtp from a none domain machine to one of our smtp servers. its running exchange 2003. I have the IP address added into relays but it still doesnt seem to work. I can tellnet on port 25 using any domain computer. Its on the same gigabit switch and the same subnet. I can ping the machine no problem. I can telnet in on port 80 and 443 but cant on 25. If i attempt to telnet from this machine I am unable to get in. What am I missing? Thanks for any advise. Regards, Tom

Hmm, Is windows even on the hdd? Is the cd detecting the O/S or HDD?

Il put this down to shi* hardware! The server started to respond to pings today. As soon as i plugged in another workstation it would stop. If i restarted the switch all would be ok. Thanks anyway allen2

I dont think so because another workstation on the network can pick one up. I think its strange how i can ping other workstations but not that server.

Hey Guys, I'm currently testing disaster recovery for exchange 2007. I have two servers on a private network with no gateway to the net. I have installed server 2003 with DNS and DHCP on one server which is the domain controller. I have built another server with windows server 2003 with no roles. This server is on the domain and can currently pick up DHCP address’s and use static addressing to use remote desktop etc. So I run the exchange setup and it gets to installing mailbox roll then fails telling me it cannot reach the domain. Now the static IP address has turned to DHCP and I can no longer pickup a DHCP address, if I set the static again I cannot ping the domain controller but I can ping other thing on the network???? I’m at a loss, Any ideas? Bout to go to download fest also any one going to that?

Hey guys, I had this problem before where you cannot access websites from IE i can use basic http but when it comes to some https traffice i get a blank page. If i access hotmail.com i get a blank page if i try hsbc banking online get blank page.. . . Cannot remember the fix for this any idea guys?? its 23:33 and im still working!!! i need some sleep im in the office all day tomorrow on helpdesk lol!! Cheers guys

Thats just scary man, im building a new machine with 4gb of memory and that cost under £100. I use a 2gb sd card for my blody car stereo for god sake!!

Im having a problem with this device guys Intel® PRO/100 VE Desktop Adapter. when ever i start vista i get "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" but if i uninstall it and restart it install and i can use. Intil i restart again and its gone! iv update the drivers etc no idea what this is? Cheers Guys its windows ulitmate

Hey guys, Im trying to grab some old documents from a hdd. i have taken it out of the old case and used a usb converter to plug it in to my laptop, when i browse old docs and settings and try to access old files i get permissions error on a use dir. Is there anyway around this? the old drive was an xp build and NTFS!! Cheers Thomas,

i has vista running on vmware for abouta month! it was great gave me a chance to test it out etc, i remeber that screen i cant remeber how i got around it, i know i mounted the cd as an image and installed vista that way, Runs Great on VMware!

The only problem is i am loged in as administrator!!!

i recently installed vista on my laptop! all went ok! apart from 2 problems really. I cant edit any system files even tho i am the admin!( i require permission to open this file, and i need it from trusted installer!!) i can do much with vista mod wise!! also when i go to dial a vpn connection that i have saved vista blue screens!!! no idea wat thats all about but not a great start to vista reallly!!! cheers guys

Hey guys just set up a faxing program but its run across a server so they access faxes from a shared drive on the desktop what i want to be able to do is have an alert play when the folder gets a file written to it so say this happens -- fax server receives a fax a noise plays they go into there mapped drive (folder on desktop)an see there new fax any ideas guys??? seems simple in theory lol !! cheers
