  1. I see you are a new poster, so you will get a public warning. Please read the forum rules, including this: As far as your request, it can be done by editing files but I have a question. Is this to just change what it says for looks or are you trying to get an incompatible program to run on the machine?
  2. The method you are describing is the only one I have ever known to exist. Perhaps they recently updated the WGAplugin and the old one won't work?
  3. Oh no, I just misread that twice as "Old People OS"
  4. I don't think they'll take that back on warranty!
  5. Also, if you decide to go this route, remember that nLite is not for commercial use. In addition, we have a forum just for nLite (and vLite for Vista and 7) here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=89
  6. The Windows Unattended Setup reference says: You can find this CHM in your AIK folder under Documentation. Else you can see it here also: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library...28WS.10%29.aspx
  7. I am working on a project that I want to be able to read and use info from the WMI. I have gotten some info from TechNet and MSDN but it seems to make my head spin. I am also not sure what interface I will use to write the code. It will either be VBScript (with an HTA) or AutoIT or Flash Projector. So can anyone post me some good WMI guides and tutorials and code examples and such?
  8. Soul Calibur IV
  9. I think eventually I want to get it for the PC. I pass it up on PS3 because I can't play FPS with a controller. Does it work with a mouse and keyboard like on a PC? I was always wondering but afraid of buying all the stuff and finding out it doesn't work quite the same.
  10. Right, yes that post does talk about WSUS and SCE, but if you look at the MS KB links, they will talk about using GP to push updates. I put the link for the main topic because you didn't really specify what you had access to, so WSUS may have just been enough, otherwise you'll need to dig deeper.
  11. Can you post your server config, including what RAID levels you are using?
  12. You need to specify the path to the INF. You can't just tell DISM what folder it is in or use wildcards. Also, um why are you using Powershell? Use the PE Tools Command Prompt from the AIK folder in the Start Menu.
  13. I got bored with Starter on Wind so I formatted it and installed Windows 7 Pro x86. And somehow it is actually running Aero! Man this thing never ceases to surprise me. Just imagine what it could have done had I actually decided to put Windows 98 on it!
  14. You can use Group Policy from your domain controller to push updates like that. Start here for more info: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums...3b-a8baac35b36a
  15. What has the impedance of a voicecoil to do with the strength of magnets? Not sure, but it seems the speakers with higher impedence have a stronger magnetic field.
  16. DevShed seems to be working now. Not sure if you'll get a response tho, that site is not as big as it used to be or so it seems to me. http://forums.devshed.com/hire-a-programmer-57/
  17. This explains why everyone is editing their posts... Reminds me of IE8 Beta 1. Oh is this new Firefox faster now? I was wondering if I should update. I like how fast Chrome is but it is not as secure as my FF.
  18. For some reason this thread just reminded me of MicroHouse. Alas, if i am ever trying to find a HwID, I do a string search in my drivers folder. In there I have all the downloads from DriverPacks and can usually find just about anything I'm looking for.
  19. Right, well if Device Manager doesn't see it, don't bother fooling with the drivers or install package. It won't do you any good. You are probably experiencing a hardware problem or a related incompatibility.
  20. I can think of, off the top of my head, an idea that may work. You can use Microsoft Security Essentials (free) on all clients. Then on your media server you install WSUS. Not sure if that is free or not, or how to get it if you are not in the Partner Channel. Anyways, then you can tell your clients to get your updates from WSUS and not from the internet.
  21. If you are on Windows, you might have an option in Device Manager to let Windows power it down during sleep. Of course then you probably wouldn't be able to wake up the computer with the keyboard. But it Windows does put that device to sleep, then the lights might go off.
  22. Ah yes, the old "bulk-eraser" trick? If you are fortunate enough, you can find a very powerful magnet inside a subwoofer! Other uses for such powerful magnets are to create magnetic field antennae for tv or radio. Oh, ah subwoofer should have at least 6 ohm written on it. Make sure the speaker can at least pick up a screwdriver, or if you stick it on your fridge you find it slightly difficult to take it off. But yes, no garauntee that will work to fully erase the data. I know commercial bulk-eraser does not even have a 100% success rate either, but if you go with a service like was mentioned before, they may have some sort of gaurantee.
  23. Well, we don't have anything that allows for that kind of discussion here on MSFN. I know there is a "Programmers for Hire" type section up on Devshed.com, but their forum appears to be down at the moment. Check out that site when its back up and look for that section. Its 2/3rd of the way down on the index I believe.
  24. Yes - Going For The One
  25. It is possible to take a VHD created in Virtual PC 2007 and open it in Virtual Box. I've done it with XP Pro SP3 as the client OS and Server 2003 as the host. I don't remember if I had to do anything special to get it to work tho. I know that Virtual Box does have an import option however.
