  1. Hi 'Gray', first, go to http://integrator.siginetsoftware.com/inde...manual&main Then, http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3617 Best regards Thanks for that. It actually says on your second link that if you've integrated one of RyanVM's packs already (which I have done) to NOT use the WU or MU addons. I will try later today and see what happens... Gray
  2. I do, but surely you don't expect me to do a fresh install every time a new update comes out???
  3. Hi, After a test install of my unattended build in VirtualPC, to check for updates I have to: 1. Right click the top bar and select "Run ActiveX Control" 2. Click "Run" 3. Click "Install" 4. Click "Express" to check for critical updates. This isn't that big a deal, but can it be improved? Is there is a reg tweak or something to enable ActiveX control by default? And just what is it I am installing in step 3, and why can't I integrate or install it in RunOnceEx? Thanks in advance, Gray
  4. Have you integrated the IE7 hotfix KB939653? When I did that it killed RunOnceEx, so now I just install it at the end of my RunOnceEx.cmd file...
  5. Thanks... I'm using the latest version of WindowsUpdateAgent30. I'll try and integrate 905474 (think I already have though). Silly question, but where exactly do I put the cab file? Do I have to extract it somewhere, run it during the install or what?
  6. Hi, When I first go to the Windows Update site after a new unattended install using VirtualPC, I'm always asked to update Windows Update. No "KBxxxxx" is listed, so does anyone know if this "first" update can be integrated or even what it is? I've integrated kb893803-v2 and WindowsUpdateAgent30, so it's not those... Thanks, Gray
  7. Hi, I currently use RyanVM's AIO package to install the .net frameworks, but 3.0 takes about 10 minutes to install. Is there a another faster method of installing them? I know there are other methods, I just don't want to try them and discover that .net 3.0 just takes ages to install no matter what method is used. Also, is there any real necessity for installing the frameworks? What popular apps use them? Thanks, Gray
  8. I had the same trouble and i've found that without the integration of the update 933360 there's no more problem. I have this problem too, so do I have to start again from scratch but this time not integrate 933360??? Please tell me I don't!
  9. I know, but that would mean building my unattended install disk from scratch again, downloading every hotfix, integrating drivers, etc. etc, as I never used nlite originally and all I want to do is get one hotfix to work!
  10. I've already integrated IE7 into the unattended install, so I can't install it then run the hotfix. I just don't understand why all the other post SP2 stuff either integrates or installs at T-whatever, but 937143 is still showing up in the list...
  11. Sorry, could you explain that in a bit more detail please? What is run2.cmd? I've never heard of that! And how do I run it with KB937143? And why do I have to do a shutdown -r?
  12. Hi, Not matter how I try I just cannot seem to integrate the IE7 hotfix KB937143. I've tried directly with the /integrate switch and I've tried the RunOncEx method. But each time when I go on and check all available update the **** thing is still listed. What am I doing wrong?
  13. So you can't have the option of booting into a choice of ntldr's? 1. Vista 2. Windows (apps) 3. Windown (games) I have to have just: 1. Vista 2. Windows and from option 2 ANOTHER two options like: 1. Windows (apps) 2. Windows (games) That's crazy. I've tried EasyBCD and VistaBootPro by the way, and they are more or less identical. Both of which don't do what I want anyway (
  14. There's no way I want to re-install EVERYTHING, that's just totally unrealistic. And I don't really want to have to choose the Win XP option, and then press another button for the type of XP (app or games) which is what i will need to do if I go down the boot.ini route. There must be a way using the BCD to just have 3 options, one for each bootable hdd. Does anyone know? It seems strange to me that I've got Vista working from option 1, XP Apps from option 2 but option 3 XP games just loads XP Apps as if I'd selected option 2.
  15. Hi, I have three separate hard drives - one with XP that I use for all my apps, one with XP that just used for gaming, and the final one that I have instaled Vista onto. I've been playing around with EasyBCD for a couple of days now, and now have three options, one for each drive. The first option (the default) is Vista. I can select this and Vista boots up no problem. The second option is XP. This also boots up no problem. The third option is Gaming, and this just boots up into XP (as if I'd clicked the second option). I've changed settings and all sorts, but it still boots up into my XP drive. What have I done wrong? Is there a definitive guide somewhere that I just can't seem to find? Why on Earth did they get rid of boot.ini??!!

    Master volume

NirCmd does it perfectly, thanks for that. I thought the feature would be built into Windows, but I guess that was just wishful thinking! Thanks again.

    Master volume

Oh yes, I know about that way, I'd just like to edit a file or something. I imaginge the volume is set to a particualr number, from 0 - 255 or something. I was just wondering if there was an ini file or some such with a line similar to "volume=255". The slider obviously sets something to a value, I just wondered if it was possible to do without any kind of GUI.

    Master volume

Hi, I know that the volume can be set by either double-clicking the speaker icon on the systray and then moving the slider, but what is this actually doing? Does it change a setting in the registry, an ini file, or something else? Is there a way to change the volume by editing a file, or is the slider method the only one? Thanks, Gray
  19. So can they logon or not? No, users themselves cannot log in as the PCs are set to auto log in via Tweak UI. The only way they can log in is if they do a Ctrl+Alt+Del, click "Log off" and hold down the left shift key. That's my point, I don't want people to be able to hold the left shift key down and log in. I know the left shift key can be disabled, but that would stop us admins logging in too!
  20. No need for that attitude is there? Of course they all know about that, but the PC's are set up so that the users cannot log in. They can press Ctrl+Alt+Del all day long, they won't be able to log in.
  21. Possible yeah, but too many machines to make it a viable option. Is there another way? Can't the left shift key function be changed just during the auto-logon?
  22. Hi, I work for a company where we currently use TweakUI to set up autologon accounts. You know the thing, when the PC's reboot they automatically log on to the network preventing normal users from logging in with their own accounts. However, a few people have discovered that holding down the left shift key prevents the autologon, and lets these users log into the PC's with their own accounts. This is fine for us admins to do (we have to do it every day), but not good for anyone else! Is there a way to re-map the left shift key to another key or even another key combo that we can keep secret? I know I can disable the left shift key completely, but doing this would also stop us from holding it down and logging in. Or is there another trick I don't know about? Cheers, Gray

    Screensaver

Hmmm... I could be overlooking it, but I find any reference to it in gpedit. Any idea where abouts it is?

    Screensaver

Hi, Is there a way I can set the screensaver to one particular screensaver and then lock it to that, only allowing admins to unlock it? Cheers, Gray
