hi folks, can anyone help me! my unattended cd is going well, but something ive installed causes Windows to lock files, meaning when i try and delete/move them it says it can't because it's being used, checking with a program called "WhoLockMe" says its explorer.exe that is locking them. if you end that process it will let you delete/move the files, but its a pain! what program could it be? is there anyway to debug this problem? i can list the programs that are being installed if you want. cheers.

i personally use inno setup because: 1. its easy to use. 2. its free. it doesn't make msi files but it does make a single exe. the other alternative is use a self extracting rar/zip which is set to extract the files to a temp folder, run the setup msi, then delete the files after setup. thats probably the easier option. try getting winrar (my favourite) it has a free trial available also. hope this helps...

do a search for vidchng1365, its a great commandline tool for setting resolution, refresh rate and colour depth in one command, only about 50kb or so im sure.

yeah shortly after i read about the USERS\.DEFAULT key and it makes sense. do you think the reg file isnt being applied? ill try adding a specific key in it to test. so if the CURRENT_USER tweaks get applied during the GUI Setup will they affect Administrator? cuz i read somewhere (i think) that that account has already been created and so the tweaks won't affect it. thanks for your info so far, ill have a read. can i run the reg files from the cmdlines.txt like i have, or would it be better to use a .cmd file that imports it? does it matter? also i remember reading a command lien of way of specifying which ntuser.dat to apply the tweaks to. it was in my old QuickLaunch.cmd, but i found a different way so i havn't got that file anymore.

the quicklaunch.cmd i picked up from these forums, someone suggested it. i cant remember what it does exactly, something like enable the quick launch bar maybe? also if i just run the reg file at the T-13 stage, will i have to run it at runonceex aswell? or will the default user propogate to the administrator account? ive got a feeling the cmdlines.txt isnt working properly, just a hunch. will check back after work

hi folks, ive done quite a number of searches to try and get the answer to this problem but with no luck, im not sure what to search for... my cd is working great, the administrator is left logged in with all the programs, start menu, reg tweaks and visual settings applied. When you create a new user, not all the settings are applied across. Hi, I noticed quite a few requests for a way to install it. Might have the answer here: When you run the main setup exe, which for me is 13.3mb. It does some unpacking then brings up a EULA. I had a look in: "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp" and there was a folder called "vsp8.tmp" so here's all the unpacked files yeah? if you open up "AgentVer.ini" there's this section at the bottom: lo and behold there's a SilentInstall switch! As I said I've not tried this to see if it works, but I will do and let you know the results. Looks like there's some other interesting options here aswell. i then tried using the original exe with /SilentInstall and it does actually work. Only problem is it doesn't skip the licence agreement. any ideas anyone!

hi everyone, i noticed no-one has put the silent switches for NOD32, ive just started using this instead of piddling about trying to get NAV2004 silently in! i gotta say its bloody quick and has some awards for being so **** good, i really recommend you give it a go if you're fed up with NAV. anyways, here's the switch i'm using for silent install: the settings.reg file, is all the settings exported from the registry from an already installed and configured version. here's the rest of the switches with descriptions if you are interested hope this helps someone.

just wondered if i can ask a question here, on an original xp cd, if there is an existing WINDOWS folder it lets you choose to format the partition or just overwrite the main folders. on my unattended disc, if there is an existing WINDOWS folder, it doesn't let you have the choice, it just says u can overwrite the folders or install to a different folder e.g. WINXP is there any reason for this difference? i really am sure it's different. could it be any options set in any of the answer files or something.

i had the same error codeblue (iac25_32.ax), to fix it i just ran the install before a few other programs, might have been a program using that file for a minute, not sure why it happened, but for codecs i get on perfectly with these: K-Lite Codec Pack 2.25 Full QuickTime Alternative 1.32 Real Alternative 1.22 Shockwave & Flash Players the codec pack installs Media Player Classic, which I play pretty much everything with. hi folks, tryin to get a game called DXBall2 installed, it uses the WISE installer. Now /S works fine, but it opens up the start menu folder, which is quite annoying. Is there a switch to stop this happening?

i hope there's some speaker/soundcard geniuses in here!! basically i bought a soundblaster audigy2 zs 7.1 soundcard, which should have hooked up to my videologic zxr750 7.1 speakers. now i can't get my head round the connectors?! the input on the speakers, is 8 phonos: 1 = Left Right 2 = Centre Sub 3 = Side Left Right 4 = Rear Left Right and my soundcard has a digital output or 3x3.5mm jacks, and it's supposed to go something like this... 1 = left, right, rear left 2 = centre, sub, rear right 3 = side left, side right now its roughly like this, may have got a couple of them mixed up, but how can i go from one 3.5mm jack to 3 phonos?!? i have 1 jack to 2 phonos, which works for 5.1 sound(ish), but i want my full 7.1 all i wanna do is get the 7.1 sound from my soundcard to go into my speakers!!! have you any idea on what splitters/convertors/miracles i need to get this to work. id be so grateful if you have any ideas.
