  1. I just purchased an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail motherboard and tried to install it in my A-Top Xblade 450w case. The plugs appear to be identical, but the socket on the mobo is much bigger then the plug coming from the PSU. Is there some kind of adaptor I need? Or am I going to have to replace my power supply?

The case says mobo compatibility ATX and the mobo is an ATX. What is going on here?

  2. What files are you trying to burn to the DVD? It looks like the error occured during the conversion to VOB format.

I've tried with .tivo files and .mpeg files. Both of which I've used to burn to dvd before. The dvd I burned just before this one was two .tivo files and an .mpeg.

I also tried burning a dvd with one of each file type of dvds i've successfully burned before.

  3. I use Nero 6 to burn files from my tivo to DVD for when I miss a show and am traveling or just something to watch while out of town.

I burned one dvd then the next night tried to burn another and I got an error. I had changed nothing between the two burns execpt for DVDs. The 2nd burn was all ready to go before the first.

I have a report of the error and my dxdiag.

This is where the error is in the report.

I'm no good at reading this kind of stuff, so any light shead would be terrific.

I do see this [23:20:20] DVDEngine ...Session callback unregistered... and am concerend. Is it saying my nero isn't registered?

I've tried output to my DVD burner and to an .iso both with the same results.

  4. No, you need to run Process Explorer on the machine with the problem, because otherwise how will you see the problem in a working pc? :)

That is what I figured, since I can't run anything on this machine, skipping this.

If it doesn't happen in safemode,

    Safemode never even finished booting.

use msconfig to disable all non-Microsoft services and all startup items and then boot back into a regular Windows session.

This was the very first thing I did even before I checked task manager.

If it happens in safe mode, you likely have corrupt system files and will need to do a repair installation to recover.

Well since it was a fresh install I am just doing a total reformat. No point in repairing a bad fresh install. This time I will obtain all of the MS updates before downloading the IBM drivers.

    Thanks for the suggestions

  5. Is sysinterminals something I can run with the hdd attached to another computer? Because it is so slow it takes 1m30s-3m to open the start menu and additional time to be able to select anything.

I have not tried SP2 but its looking like I might have to before I install the drivers.

When I do connect it to my LAN I keep getting Windows update icons, not one, but at one point I counted 12.

I am going to try and boot it into safe mode and see what happens.

  6. I have an IBM Thinkpad X40 with a fresh install of XP pro SP1 and after updating my drivers from IBM.com when I boot up my computer winlogon.exe is using 99% of my cpu resoruces. I've run a virus scan on the drive (from another computer the thinkpad is so lagged it can barely open my computer).

I've tried installing Winpatro, Spybot S&D, Adaware, HJT but nothing will because there are no resources left. I have also tried changing the way users login and had no luck their either.

    Any suggestions?
