If Dell sold you the computer, it probably sold you a reinstall disc with it. I guess you used that disc to make your new disc. If you kept the inattended settings, it will have kept the Dell key that allows (allong with a few "oem" files on the cd and a check with your motherboard's Bios) auto activation of your install. That key can also be found in an andwer file on your original disc (a .sif file?) . There are also numerous programs that allow you to read the install key of a running XP. Or you could use the key that's on your case but then with a standard XP OEM disc (no automatic activation here). The presets you used at the time (Last session.ini and last session_u.ini) are either on the root of your CD or in the computer you made it with, in Program Files\nLite\Presets\. They can be loaded with nLite (load presets) at the start of the program. It is also possible that it shows part of them on the running XP, in the Properties of "My Computer" (if you have a "Support" button).

Help please on audio - "HDA Audio Bus Driver is required"
Ponch replied to mmr55's topic in Windows XP
I found an (old) post about same problem... in french, here. Basically it says to install SP2 (or later) and updates, then install the kb you refer to, then install the audio driver (from the mobo install cd). And if it asks for "hdaudbus.sys" during installation, point to C:\Windows\system32\drivers. Good luck. -
[Release] Siginet's PLoP USB Boot Manager Installer
Ponch replied to Siginet's topic in Install Windows from USB
Do you get the (PLOP) boot menu then choose "USB" ? -
Lenovo says it has AMD processor ... that is probably your problem. You can't mix them Intel and AMD sysprepped images.
-
If not for lots of different files, you can create a shortcut that opens the file with the program. For instance a shortcut to %SystemRoot%\system32\notepad.exe c:\text.aaa will open your text.aaa with notepad. There might be other ways to do what you want but this seems the easier.
-
Exactly. What happen if you jump from point 4 to 7 ? (What's the idea behind points 5-6?)
-
Errr... You know you post in the nLite forum, right ? And that it happens to be one of those "someone else's program". You could check the addon subforum and learn how to make your own addon with your updates ? I guess you made your own addon for the main program already ?

I don't know how you come to that conclusion. Anyway "the 1st partition is seen as D:" is a more correct statement (if true). Probably because the 2nd is active and seen as C: and contains your Windows installation. That should have been clear at Windows (re)installation. Now you see why you can't just delete it you need to change your goal. Stating the exact partitionning would get you more help (order, letter; active status). Maybe post a printscreen of Disk Management?

Where do you launch your batch from ? Do you boot the cd or do you launch the install from Windows ? You probably need to have a 1st part of your batch file to recognise the letter for your cdrom. Check this link for instance.

ulea on windows xp needs f8 but my laptop wont do one
Ponch replied to dvdgremlin's topic in Windows XP
Have you checked the Bios to enable "Legacy USB" or something like that so you can use a USB keyboard right after POST ? -
When you "reinstalled", did it tell you about the existing Windows on D: ? Can you get your boot.ini to show a choice for running Windows from 1st or 2nd partition ?
-
Where does that "XP2" cd come from ? (I guess you mean "XP SP2"). Is it an original ?
-
Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini so we can see what you did or did mot integrate.
-
You need to create a VM (follow the wizard), then define your ISO as CD ROM. When starting the VM, you can press F12 for boot menu as for real PCs.
-
Can you please attach (not paste) your Last session.ini (you'll find it in the final directory or in your Program Files/nLite/presets) ?
-
Check Forum Rules 11 & 12, ....... PLEASE !!!!! +Given the fact that MUI is only for Volume Licencing which is only for professional usage, and nLite being restricted to personal, non commercial, use by its EULA, well, ...you get the problem.

Welcome to the forum. nLite is a complex but small program that was originally designed to remove Windows (2k or XP) components from install CD. It has then evolved to something more user friendly but the author has stopped working on it since few years now so your suggestion is likely to be lost in cyberspace, as previously posted identical ones (see last answers for info, there are lots of solutions for what you want). May I also suggest you don't mention Hiren or any other illegal gathering and distribution of commercial softwares "for free" in future posts?
-
Well I can see it. And It contains other keys to each uninstallable software indeed.
-
nLite always assumes it is working on an original cd. Depending on the parts of the program you're using, you can get problems or not. There are more than 9000 thousands threads on this forum and you'll find this info in probably more than 2000 of them.

This is in the last session.ini file, not in winnt.sif or other (I can't search where it goes that at this moment). There have been lots of discussions about the way that tweak is presented. nLite's developement being halted, there is no much point to discuss it again. The tweak is "Disable SFC", with choices "enable/disable". Those choices are on SFC, not on "the tweak". By default, the tweak is not applied, and SFC is ...enabled like MS made it (see the twist). If the tweak is listed in the Last session.ini file, it means it is applied and SFC is DISABLED.

If I'm not mistaken, without update to the player itself (which I don't see in your ini file), you will end up with WMP9. That's the one included in XP.
-
Or you can use an iPad as wireless screen, even if "the app isn't really suitable for video playback support, and certainly shouldn't be used for gaming".
-
Because too often we have people working with previously modified CDs (going on with their updates) or worse, randomly downloaded (not to say "dubious" or "illegal") XP ISOs they have no idea what they really contains. Those two situations bring unsolvable errors. I prefer to get those possibilities out the way before solving your problem.

Disk Drive Having Trouble Opening And Working
Ponch replied to buckdog05's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
It sounds 99% hardware problem.Keep the computer on Bios screen (press F2 or Esc at startup) for 1/2 hour, then push the button. If it doesn't open, it's a 100% hardware problem (most probably power related). Maybe it's still under warranty?
