Hi, I want to make a 1:1 backup copy of a system to a 2nd PC. I do not want to open the PCs or use external storage media. So I thought it must be possible to connect the 2 PCs via Network cable and use a HDD clone program (each on a Bart PE CD?) running on both PCs. But I did not found a program which is capable yet. Does anybody have experience with this?

Hi, I have 2 PCs P4 1.8GHZ with the old Intel aluminium (no Copper core) coolers. The fans are too noisy now. What replacement fans are recommended for almost silent operation? (Papst etc..?) I do not want to remove the heatsink (w. thermal pad), only the fan.

Hi, new JRE6 Update 1 Installer works fine but I am still not able to use with my proxy. All network parameters tried. Many Java applications are working but some not. Hi, I tried Sun JRE6; JRE1.5V11; JRE1.5V10 switchless or not. No Version works with Proxy+PW. Has anyone successfully installed SUN Java on a system with Proxy+Password? MS Java is working fine but officially not shipped anymore. BTW all the Versions above are working on another system without Proxy but this does not help me. (Dell P4-3GHZ,XPSP2...)

Hi, I am having problems to get Sun Java working with a Proxy+Authentification. When accessing a page with Java content (Sun Java Test page), JRE is trying to connect to the Internet but the Proxy refuses consciously. So no Java is working. Old MS Java is working fine. Does anybody know if Sun Java can be configured to work under these circumstances?

Works now with w2k too, had to use reg.exe from XP instead older version from W2k. Icons are updated after next logon.

If you want to disable annoying autoupdate after install, just move the updater.api to the Optional folder. Hi, I tried the new release and all worked great except the Help function. Clicking on Help(F1) causes a crash. (XP+W2k) I would therefore suggest to include the help files since AR8 may have new operation/functions compared to 7.0.8

Hi, I did some more testing and went crazy. As far as I can see,you have used the original swflash.cab content. with XP it works all the time, with W2k it seems to fail also registering immediate browser integration. (swflash.cab does it either but msi installer does it) One solution works also within Iexpress: using: "rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection swflash.inf, DefaultInstall" always works fine. I will stop investigating because its a minor problem to me.

Hi Shark007, it's gotten even worse: During install "FlashUtil9b.exe not found" I think you have mixed up with a DOS8.3 name. If you provide Information about your Install procedure, I may check it for W2k compatibility. It worked with your Flash 8.x installer. W2k,XP,.. should work with the same installer if you go not too deep into system peculiarities. (The original Macromedia msi installer w. silent switch works well with all OS) Is annoying Autoupdate enabled or disabled?

Hi, in the current FlashInstaller9028 release occurs the following error: File "C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flas" (or one of it's components) not found. (tranlated from German) This error comes only once after the first reboot before desktop loads. After deinstalling/installing it comes once again. Unfortunately I cannot look into your package to see what your Installer is doing. I use W2k german.

Hi, I mean true identical folders with identical content. For example I have some USB HDDs with a lot of backups, and I want to remove double backups. But some folders differ only in some files intentionally - they shall be kept intact. --> The folder name (not the complete folter tree) must be regarded during clone file search. I have around 100 folders and various subfolders, from them have 90% the identical content and shall be deleted. But the remaining 10% shall be kept intact. (~60GB Data all) The folder name and the containing data belongs together, folders with same name but different data shall be untouched.

Hi. I am searching for a tool which finds duplicate folders. This means true identical folders, not only folders which contain "some" identical files but "all" identical files. I need this for removing true duplicate directories in a lot of backup media. I tried DupExplore etc. but they do not work as promised. Any help would be appreciated.

I have careless used PartitionMagic8 while running w2k to resize my systempartition, now it's gone. System: W2K AMD 1800XP nforce2 256MB RAM 80GB IDE HDD with 2 ntfs partitions: 1) primary.active C:system ntfs 2) extended. D:data ntfs How can I try to recover my system? I have tried to use different BartPE rescue CDs but they don't run. PC hangs at setup!!! (Maybe BartPE does not work without working HDD at all?) W2k CD works (I can start recovery console) but it shows only partition 2) PM8 bootdisk shows both partitions but 1) has partitiontype "3C" (PartitionMagic recovery partition) how can I change the partitiontype to have access again? Do I have to fix the mbr?

FYI MBSA2.0 with catalog-file(wsusscan.cab) from 11-Aug-2006 reports no problem!

After creating a new W2k-CD with HFSLIP1.0.1, I got the MBSA2.0 message that KB867801 is missing. But i have included it into HF. Manually applying afterwards does not work either. Message: IE6 SP1 is missing! Does anybody else have had this problem before? I use german language versions.

Hi, some days ago, I noticed some short black horizontally lines appearing whilst playing an old game. They appear occasionally on the screen. I never had this problem before. I have also encountered some instability at full CPU load. How can I determine the faulty part (CPU,Graphics,RAM,Board)? I do not have spare parts to exchange. Seems to be a temperature problem. After 1 hour of running all memory locations have error and then the PC freezes until I let cool down for 30 minutes. the northbridge has only standard passive heatsink and gets very hot also CPU and memory is hot. I am not able to select FSB slower than 133(only faster) in BIOS - how can I do this? (newest BIOS R1.16). Aopen AK79D400VN with 1800XP-Palomino.

@cyberloner does this mean that I cannot mix DDR266 and DDR400 modules? But now only DDR400 modules are available on the market. Should I use same FSB for CPU and RAM? Is somebody familiar with memtest? How can I determine the defective chip on the module?

OK, deactivating the network card does work! But what have I to change in the documents then to work in the network again? How can I monitor what particular file is word trying to access?

Hi, I have problems of opening some recently created documents. They are on a network folder and a couple of people must have access to edit them (Word 97 + Word2000) Word freezes for approx. 3 Minutes before opening them (all Word versions). Saving again and reopening has the same effect. The documents are small only one page and Arial font, no graphics. How can I find out what particular thing makes Word freezing?
